Please check out Phsstpok’s EXCELLENT Sunday Talk Show PRE-Thread. It’s a great way to hear analysis on why the DBM picks the guests, what they’ll probably discuss, and other pertinent facts. Also, check out his blog!

Thanks, AB & Good Morning to EveryOne! Congrats to last week's top winners!

Tearing down that Huckabee's Mask:

Victor Davis Hanson's wisdom: Mike Huckabee:  Howard Dean in slow motion.

If it wasnít for abortion, Huckabee would be running as a Democrat.

I would NEVER EVER vote for this guy.

Interesting absence of Obama and Clinton, I suppose they’re being saved for last telecast before Iowa.

Just an observation from the guest list.... it looks like Edwards has bought his way to some more television time.... and that Hillary is done.

Good morning everyone!

First off, an announcement regarding this week’s awards: I thought I was going to be able to post the awards on time this week but unfortunately I have run into some network problems (I had to travel yesterday) and I had to throw out my network cable, which I need to connect. I’ll post the awards tomorrow when I get access to a wireless broadband connection at the local library. Apologies for the delays.

Now... on to the preview.

This week’s guests are fairly straight up.

ABC’s This Week features John Edwards and Alan Greenspan. Both are likely to try and blame Bush for the subprime mortgage crisis. Greenspan will talk in economic terms; Edwards with demagoguery.

Both CBS’s Face the Nation and NBC’s Meet the Press are devoting their time to Presidential candidates. FTN features Fred Thompson and another dose of Edwards. MTP features Mitt Romney.

CNN features Bayh, Biden and Bond. Clever alliteration.

FOX continues to prove why it is considered so vapid with its interview of baseball’s George Mitchell and the owner of the Washington Capitals (perennial league cellar-dwellers who got beat by the Sabres Friday).

Ratings coming up later...

SUNDAY TALK SHOW RATINGS ANALYSIS
Week of December 9, 2007
NBC MEET THE PRESS....3,881,000 (30%) (-754,000)
CBS FACE THE NATION...2,942,000 (23%) (+380,000)
ABC THIS WEEK.........2,997,000 (23%) (+ 92,000)
FOX NEWS SUNDAY.......2,462,000 (19%) (+447,000)
CNN LATE EDITION........528,000 ( 4%) (+ 52,000)
As the election season gets into full pitch, the Sunday talk shows' viewership has seen a steady upward climb. Last week we mentioned the steady upward rise of MEET THE PRESS. Well, all of those gains that MTP has made in the past few weeks-- gone. The NBC program saw its viewership crash and fall by over 700,000 viewers, dropping to its lowest market share in nearly four months (30% of Sunday talk viewers, down from last week's 37%). The other shows, however, are all up, and none has benefited more than FOX NEWS SUNDAY, which has risen to 19% audience share with an over 400,000 viewer gain. THIS WEEK saw a nominal gain and FACE THE NATION saw a fairly large one (although FTN has been wildly oscillating back and forth, so it will remain to be seen whether or not it is statistically significant).

All data derived from public data from Nielsen Media Research, released via secondhand sources. Numbers are derived from adding live broadcast to cable replays in the case of Fox News Sunday and Meet the Press. Cable replay data from TV Newser, live data from NBC press release verified by ABC press release. All data (c) Nielsen Media Research 2007.

Regardless of how one feels about Romney, it’s clear that Russert’s purpose is to force Romney to defend his positions, rather than to give him the opportunity to state how he would defeat a RAT nominee or how he would govern. So far every question has been about domestic social policy...nothing on defense, terror, Russia, Iran, the economy, etc. You have to wonder if he would question any RAT in the same way.
