Weekend Talk Show *Preview* for 12/15 - 12/16/07 (not the live thread)
Network and Cable News | December 15, 2007 | Network and Cable News Shows

Posted on 12/15/2007 5:31:58 AM PST by Phsstpok

I'm sticking with the new format, mostly because of the other demands on my time right now.  I want to make sure that at least you see the basics so that you can draw your own conclusions or do your own research.  When I get the chance I'll do the research on each show and as I get that done I'll repost that shows info on the thread with the links.

It is almost all presidential politics, with some forays into steroids (Fox), Congressional military and intelligence battles (Fox, CNN) and the (queue the scary music) looming recession (ABC). The presidential candidates on are Romney (NBC); Thompson (CBS); Edwards (CBS, CNN, ABC); and Biden (ABC).

Show by Show Preview - Saturday

Below are the topics and guests announced for the Saturday programs (the Weekend news ghetto's ghetto), along with my take on the "memes" that the shows are likely trying to push.

Saturday Shows For December 15, 2007

The Beltway Boys (Mort Kondrake, Fred Barnes)

Tim Russert's Show On MSNBC (Tim Russert)

Fox News Watch (Eric Burns)

*"Peace be unto us"... 'cause we're the only ones there are in the whole wide universe, therefore it's all about us! Bwahahahahahaha!

Journal Editorial Report (Paul Gigot) - FNC show page

Show by Show Preview - Sunday

Below are the topics and guests announced for these programs.  I will add the links and details of the memes as I research the guests listed.  With each guest's name will be a series of links that I hope to find in a web search on the guest.  This helps me get a handle on who they are, why they were invited and what their likely positions will be when they are interviewed.

NBC Meet The Press (Tim Russert)

CBS Face The Nation (Bob Schieffer)

Fox News Sunday (Chris Wallace)

CNN Late Edition (Wolf Blitzer)

ABC This Week (George Stephanopoulos)

The Weekend Talk Show Preview is up

I'm sticking with the new format, mostly because of the other demands on my time right now.  I want to make sure that at least you see the basics so that you can draw your own conclusions or do your own research.  On top of everything else we're having problems with our cable internet.  I think I've figured out the problem but it's going to take me several hours to correct.  In the meantime I'll be down every time it rains, and we're scheduled for heavy rains till early afternoon.

Eventually I'll catch up and post the last two weeks over at my blog

No sample of  my usually witty commentary yet as I haven't written it, check back later...

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and happy holidays, everyone

Pat Buchanan

And just WHY does anyone give anytime to this Chicken Little? He has been squealing the same doom and gloom dogmas for 20 years now. NOTHING he says is even remotely credible or intellectually serious.

Preview and analysis for the Sunday Shows for December 16, 2007

OK, this is an abbreviated attempt at preemptive analysis of the old school, but under the new format.  It appears that I've solved my technical troubles (30 years in the PC business comes in handy every once in awhile) for now, but I still am behind the 8 ball on other matters.  Oh dear me.  this is also a preemptive apology for likely not participating tomorrow even as little as I have the last few weeks.  Boy will I be glad when year end is over.

As stated in the original ping for this thread it's "almost all presidential politics, with some forays into steroids (Fox), Congressional military and intelligence battles (Fox, CNN) and the (queue the scary music) looming recession (ABC). The presidential candidates on are Romney (NBC); Thompson (CBS); Edwards (CBS, CNN, ABC); and Biden (ABC)."  This is a big week for the political class, especially the dinosaur media types.  They've laid out scenarios for how this campaign is supposed to be run and the outcomes (that they want) in their first chance to spin themselves as "right."  Like the Orcs marching on Helm's Deep (showing now on TNT, so don't give me much credit, but the analogy seems apt) they march in lock step towards death looking for destruction of all as a good thing.

The overwhelming theme seems to be the ascendance of the MSM preferred second (third?) tier candidates in both the party's contests.  Could they possibly have an ulterior motive for pushing this particular agenda?  Do you suppose that some media consultant told some suit the advertising revenue potential one or both conventions being brokered?  Or might George Soros see personal or financial advantage for himself and his good friend Warren in the current tumult?  "Enquiring minds want to know."

That's the defining quip for me about this election cycle.  This is the presidential campaign as plotted by the National Enquirer.  And my man Fred said NO in this weeks debacle of a "debate" in Iowa.  Initially the media played that up, as they normally would for such a dramatic moment, but then they realized the implications and have been back peddling desperately ever since.  "Never mind, nothing to see here.  Move along."  I don't think they caught it in time.  I think they've set the bar way low for (my candidate) Fred and that the eventual outcome in Iowa is going to propel him to the nomination (I hope, I hope, I hope).

The dinosaur media is acting as if they're still in charge of the agenda and, God help us, the sheeple (including some of those here on FR) are going along with their BS as if it were gospel.

Hillary is evil and a danger to the human race if she were to gain power.  Likely her sins would be like her husbands, venal and petty, but with the power the office holds a venal and petty sin can kill untold millions, under the wrong circumstances. Obama is a complete amateur, totally unsuited to the office.  None of the other Democrats are competent to be trusted with the office of Post Master General, let alone President of the United States.

On the Republican side we have an extremely competent businessman who can shepherd our nation though a difficult correction to an out control bureaucracy.  We also have a talented executive who saw his city, indeed the entire nation, through an unprecedented horror and who no doubt understands the nature of the current threat.  Finally, of the viable candidates for the Republicans, we have a unique individual who has risen solely through individual talent and a willingness to do what was right against the conventional wisdom of the "powers that be" which has seen him through to a position of personal prestige and privilege but who is willing to give all of that up to serve his nation.  He now faces more "conventional wisdom" that he's not good enough for the MSM.  This week he stood up and told the MSM to stuff it.  Might that be the kick off for THE campaign to end all?

Of the other Republicans there are several honorable people who just haven't caught on, for whatever reason.  Then there's the current "flavor of the month" of the drive by media, Mike Huckabee.  I'm firmly convinced that, however honorable he might be, his current surge is not the result of legitimate appeal to Republican conservatives but from gross propaganda efforts by the forces attempting to destroy our Republic and substitute a MoveOn.ORG style Social Democrat EU "failocracy."  They view him as the easiest to defeat of the Republican candidates, in fact the ideal candidate to destroy the Republican coalition.  And his ego is letting him ignore the clear indications that this is their goal.  It's all about Huck, damn the party and damn the country.  But he'll feel better after his "pyrrhic victory" in whatever doomed cause he pursues.  It surely isn't in the interests of the American people, the Republican party and it likely will serve to marginalize the evangelical movement for decades, which is the ultimate aim of the MSM.

So there's my cynical and admittedly personal perspective.  Regardless of who you may be for this cycle, understand that the dinosaur media is desperate to control the outcome and will do anything, support or destroy anyone, through whatever lies, in order to postpone their extinction.

And that's what this election is about, for me.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Woohoo!  I actually am posting an analysis this week!  But that's only because, during the brief breaks in the work I did today on getting my network back, I couldn't do any work with my office because my internet was still down, so I worked on this in fits and starts.  Needless to say, so long as my "repairs" hold, I will be doing "real work" on Sunday and won't be able to participate much on the Sunday thread.  Have a good one.  It looks like a good week for political argument, but not a good week for actual enlightening presentation by the MSM.  In other words, par for the course.

And just WHY does anyone give anytime to this Chicken Little? (Pat Buchanan)

Becuase he's the left's idea of the ideal idiot to be THE sole spokesman for conservatives.  Someone who is easily dismissed as a bufoon.

EASILY.

Remember, he and Novak were early hires by Ted Turner.

I have never paid atttention to either of them since the day they took his paychecks.

I’ll watch Mitt encounter Tim, so I won’t have to rely on spin reporting of what happens there.
