I foresee the need for many more conferences in Bali. Yes. It is amazing that they could not use the Internet to do this "work", but I guess that if you need to bully participants in person, then locations like Bali must be ideal.
Actually, face-to-face meetings do have their place. These days I work with a number of technical committees and though we use Internet file-sharing, e-mails, teleconferences, online meetings and such, in-person meetings help to "confirm" the work that is in progress.
But why couldn't they meet in Cleveland?
