Omaha shooter used an SKS not an AK47 of any variety.

Have an "official" source for that? The pictures I saw sure looked more like an AK profile to me. Not that it matters much.

I agree. It took me awhile to dig up the profile shot again. I thought at the time it was an AK knockoff even though the media kept reporting it as an SKS. However, looking at the profile again plus looking at him carrying it in under his right sleeve, I don't think it's an SKS. It looks shorter in the pic plus I don't think this loser was tall enough to be able to smuggle in an SKS under his sleeve without it creating large bump above his shoulder blade.
