I am a Christian who doesn't observe Christmas because it's not a biblical holy day.
If I were offered a Christmas gift I too would decline it respectfully and gracefully. I might say "I appreciate your thoughtfulness and intentions, but I have to decline it because it goes against my beliefs."
If pressed, I might say that it should go to someone who really needs it and can't afford it.
If it would bother you so much to be gracious and except a well meaning gesture then why not just say thank you and give it to someone else. All this piety is ridiculous. You would not have initiated the act and therefore the only sin you would be guilty of is good manners.
“I am a Christian who doesn’t observe Christmas because it’s not a biblical holy day.”
Interesting topic, and one I’ve long considered. I’ve asked clergy why Christians don’t celebrate the same Feasts/Holy Days as Jesus, and haven’t yet received a satisfactory answer. Passover was a major and pivotal event in the NT, yet it’s not celebrated by Christians. Leaves me scratching my head. Are we not to follow Jesus?
Do you celebrate Easter?
