Come ON Freepers! I just finished a 3 month tour of 15 nations, spending time in NON tourist spots, in some trouble spots in the world. MANY people desire to trust Americans, but their confidence in the Administration in Washington is LOW. There seems to be room for a shift in the idea that there is only a military solution for every hotspot. Washington needs to find more diplomatic and even business solutions to improve peoples’ plights in countries who need a friend in Washington.
horse manure.
I will wager I’ve spent more time in foreign bathrooms than then you have spent outside America in toto, and their attitudes have nothing to do with the WH unless the current inhabitant happens NOT to be a socialist who is willing to put American interests behind their own.
IOW, you are full of crap.
How many people did you talk to who complained about what our military did after the tsunami hit Indonesia?
Which ones?
There seems to be room for a shift in the idea that there is only a military solution for every hotspot.
Yeah, that's why we bombed Libya, and we have spent no time on diplomacy with two other enemy nations that may be developing nuclear arsenals.
The idea that this administration only does foreign policy with invasions is a leftist talking point. Foreigners have an excuse for buying into it; you don't.
Government has a hard time finding solutions to "improve peoples' plights." Doing it in another country not your own is 100X MORE difficult. Can you name a particular "plight" which lends itself well to foreign "diplomacy"?
Unfortunately, only the military has the guts to go there and work with the people, which is what SF does.
People's confidence in the US has always been LOW. The Ugly American by Burdick was the nonfiction bestseller in 1960. I'm almost 60 and I remember well the widespread anti-American rioting going back all the way to the Eisenhower administration. If you want to be loved, buy a puppy.
