“So is that the reason for the demolition of the I-35W bridge in Minnesota? It must not have been big enough for transport. ;)”

Go to the window, look out, and wave.

Smile. You’re on camera!

Whatever you do, don’t answer the door.

: )

“The route that went to KCMO/KANKAN was a sort of local thing of interest only to KCMOians.

There’s nothing there folks!”

I disagree.

There are vast complexes of trucking facilities, right next to immense railroad facilities.

Immense warehouses.

And the downtown airport, which mostly handles freight and private aircraft.

Then there’s the BIG airport, KCI, within a 10 minute drive from downtown.

Most East to West Coast shipping goes through KC.
KC has been the center of American Commerce since the days of cattle drives.

There’s the MISSOURI river and KAW river between downtown and the airport. Barge shipping transportation center.

We still have the American Royal Cattle Arena.
KC is the city of fountains.

Know why? The boulevards here used to be cattle trails, and the fountains were built in locations where the watering troughs and ponds for Cattle used to be.

“Everything’s up to date in Kansas City”

KC is like one GIANT TRUCK STOP the size of New Jersey.

Looking at the original post (again), I have to say that you shouldn’t expect much.

Roads that lead nowhere are okay. If they hook up to other roads, they’re scary. If they hook up to a road that hooks up to a road that leads to Mexico, you can forget it!!!

Your typical style. Nothing of importance to say, ever; but plenty of scoffing and juvenile remarks.

This was a juvenile remark.

Building upon existing roads is also how they continue to try to avoid informing citizens exactly their intentions, as they "piece meal" their infrastructure plans and never let onto how they are connected to other, intra and interstate roads/highways.

LOL! Shhhh, don't mention that roads are connected to other roads. That's funny!

You are so right about those "juvenile" remarks. The real issue (on this thread, at least) is not the roads connecting to other roads that lead to Mexico, but rather how they managed to show-up if you use Google Maps. There has to be a reason.

I'll grow up when someone explains the reason for this thread. You appear to think that eminent domain is an issue. Frankly, with regard to roads, it's been an issue since the inclusion of the Fifth Amendment to the Bill of Rights.

In other words, you probably shouldn't go around shouting "Fifth Amendment" every time someone finds a highway on Google. Unless you are prepared to have a serious discussion, that is . . . then you might be surprised to see how grown up people on FR really are.

If the government would stop fortressing itself to steal American property, that would be one thing. But they continue to set their plans up and make things easier by getting Kelo decisions. In that case, you will notice, well, the intelligent person who is not a traitorous globalist will notice, that Bush and his Administration did not file any kind of brief in that case. Rather, he issued an executive order which pretty much backs up and amounts to the SCOTUS edict: the federal government will only take property from its owners “for the purpose of benefiting the general public.”

So....how many pieces of silver bought you, anyhows?

Kelo was a crappy decision, and most of our state legislatures have already taken steps to address it. That, plus the fact that Kelo has nothing to do with seizing land for a road.

It’s bigger than just NAFTA. Before the USA settled down to more or less its present borders many assumed it would eventually include all of North America, Central America and at least the north of S America. The intent of these early planners was to set up trade routes to China, effectively moving Europe west, which is what Columbus had in mind. The problem then was trade routes to India and China went through those pesky Middle East tribal lands, still about the same as they were then, just plain annoying. The routes to China were the reason for the Panama Canal, for the Lewis-Clark expedition, the Transcontinental Railroad. Now the routes will include the Siberia-Alaska pipeline/railroad right of way. All for trade with China/India while bypassing murderous thugs. Pres Jefferson was indeed one of these planners.
