The White House has left unexplained the president's decisions to grant pardons to drug dealers, carjackers, thieves and a moonshiner, but deny the same mercy to two former U.S. Border Patrol agents each serving more than a decade in prison for shooting at a fleeing drug smuggler.
The issue arose during a news briefing at the White House, held by Dana Perino, the president's spokeswoman.
"Both Republicans and the Democrat Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee have now deplored the president's pardoning of drug dealers and carjackers while refusing to pardon two U.S. Border Patrol agents who shot a Mexican drug smuggler who disobeyed their order to stop " asked WND's correspondent at the White House, Les Kinsolving.
"I answered this question," said Perino.
"And my question," said Kinsolving.
"I answered this question," said Perino.
"Wait a minute, I haven't asked it," Kinsolving said.
"I'm sure it's the same one," Perino responded.
"Would the White House like to respond to Chairman Delahunt, as well as Congressmen Hunter and Rohrabacher, or will you stiff-arm them with a 'no comment'?" he asked.
"What I'll do is refer you to the briefing on Monday when Kathleen asked the same question," Perino said.
"Not exactly the same," Kinsolving said.
Perino's response earlier to questions about pardons, referencing another case, was, "We don't speculate on any possible pardons."

Refusing to pardon Ramos and Compean smells....
Wondering if Mexican cartel threats...or cash....have spooked Bush or someone close to him?
The Boosh Admin would probably go so far as to retry Ramos and Compean if their convictions are overturned on appeal.
Boosh is an embrassment
If he pardons them, he can’t run for president in Mexico in 2009.
I meant “embarrassment”...not embrasment
IMO, it simply comes down to the fact that Sutton was a long-time Bush aide/friend before being appointed US Attorney.
President Bush's inaction regarding Mr. Ramos and Mr. Compean is another example of his extreme tunnel-vision loyalty to his close friends.
Until Clinton, and now, Bush, I had never seen the will of the people so maligned. I honestly did not believe that Bush would do that to us! Is this some kind of a "Yale" thing with Bush? It defies reason. It seems as though this Administration has primarily liberal advisors. Where else would there be such strong support for a miscarriage of justice, and unwillingness to show mercy when asked by a group of Democrats and Republicans?
I voted for G W Bush four times but I have to say this is one of the most despicable things he has done.
I think they were set up by the mexican cia because they found out that Ramos and Compean were going to media about the North American Union.
“Wondering if Mexican cartel threats...or cash....have spooked Bush or someone close to him?”
There are at least two other cases of agents prosecuted by Sutton for doing their jobs. One guy did two years and a felony conviction for restraining an illegal by putting his boot on they guys head to hold him down.
In all of these cases the Mexican consulate got involved to pressure the US and/or find “witnesses” and ship them back to the US.
Its not just Bush, most of Congress seems to have been paid for as well.
“As long as they are in jail, they are a powerful message to the rest of the border patrol to take it easy and shuffle paper whenever possible.”
They might be better off disarmed. Not allowed to use their weapons anyway.

Pretty much the Mexican govt is bought and paid for by the Mexican drug lords....so back to the “Mexican Cartels”
I've speculated much the same for a few years now. Someone has definitely gotten to him. Of course being POTUS should have some power to slap down the suspects so that only leaves he's in love with illegals.
Clinton was our first black president. Jorge Boosh is our first Mexican president.
I personally believe that the agents prosecution was and is political, and that the White House has its dirty fingerprints all over it. Their utter intransigence over this - As opposed to the presidents lightning fast pardon of personal friend Scooter Libby - tells me all I need to know.
Do we really want another so called compassionate conservative like Bush? One more corrupt, inept and tone deaf pseudo conservative who gets into office simply by being the non Liberal? Lets get to work now while there is still time and make sure the next Republican candidate isn’t another stealth Liberal.
NO MORE “COMPASSIONATE CONSERVATIVES”
And please, no more apologies for presidential corruption.
There are so many self-serving (And I would say corrupt) interests that place their own personal interests - both economic and ethical - above any allegiance to the US or it’s citizens that it is extremely difficult to cut through their endless chaff and smoke to just present the truth. While I really like Hunter and pretty much everything he says, he is nor a very charismatic or effective speaker, and those things are absolutely essential to be able to cut through the MSMs filters and go right to the people.
Right now the MSM is fully engaged in puffing up the most socially conservative Republican candidate, Huckabee. I do not think in the long run that their tactic will work because once Huckabee is presented certain questions he can not help but let his personal Christian-ethics-over-public-policy shine through, and after Bush I don’t see Americans too eager to have another self-appointed savior (A Republican one anyway) in office.
As I indicated before, if Hunter can secure the nomination, I will not only vote for him, I will go work for his campaign.
