US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice says the coming of an Asian century with the rise of India and China does not mean the beginning of an era of American decline.
“’Tis but a flesh wound!”
With all due respect to Condi, there wouldn’t be a decline if there was fair trade instead of free trade.
I didn’t think there was, but now that you feel compelled to tell us, Condi, I’m not so sure.
Free Trade IS Fair trade...the problem is we have neither.
There was a time when I had tremendous respect for Condi even wished she would run for President Them times is long gone so to speak.
In a region of the world known as “Everywhere But The United States,” what she’s addressing is not only on everyone’s mind already, it’s becoming ingrained, and is what many of those people believe is already happening. This is a trend that would have existed regardless of the war in Iraq or even 9/11. We have done nothing to stem this sort of mass belief, nothing to engage in the “battle of ideas” to counter this belief, and left ourselves with such a low local profile particularly in Asia that it’s not surprising people who are fed the constant China hysteria have come to believe it.
I’m _glad_ someone in the American government is actually addressing it and not only acknowledging the elephant in the room but countering it.
We have innovation. They make the things that we think up and in the long run, I'll take that any day of the week.
Good points. Yes, beyond my glib response, you’re correct, we have to start pushing our side of the story.
Exactly! And in fact, we have to remember it’s not a fixed-slice pie. A lot of the growth in China and India isn’t coming at the expense of US growth, but BECAUSE of US growth. We’re their engine, they are our fuel. It’s symbiotic.
The pie grows - our share may fluctuate, but will be the biggest share for the next few generations, at a minimum...
Condi Rice is doing her best to bring down America and make it a third world country.
You are dreaming, my friend.
And to think some here (including self) in the old days thought she would be appropriate in the White House.
She is not leveling with the American People.
I have had enough of her.
We have innovation. They make the things that we think up and in the long run, I'll take that any day of the week.

Intel Corporation on Tuesday unveiled the Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology for a new generation of laptops. With key components designed in India, the new platform is aimed at advancing the emerging digital lifestyle at home, work, and on the go. It delivers breakthrough capabilities to make entertainment truly mobile for people on the move and improves responsiveness and efficiency of mobile workers. About 500 members of the Intel India Development Center have significantly contributed to the Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology platform. Since June 2004, the India team has been working to help achieve smaller form factor, more battery life and less power consumption. India's contribution in developing this innovative technology for global use is a path breaking effort by Intel India. "Intel is focused on creating an innovative mobile computing platform that ushers in a new era of working, playing and living," said Anand Chandrasekhar, senior vice president and general manager of sales and marketing group, Intel Corporation. "The Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology platform developed in India, creates a new leap in how people work and play, taking advantage of a new generation of uses and experiences." Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology is powered by the Intel Core Duo process (formerly codenamed "Yonah"), Intel's new, mobile dual-core processor manufactured using the company's leading 65nm process technology. It boasts a unique design with two processors in a package roughly the size of a large postage stamp, coupling new levels of performance with breakthrough energy-efficiency to inspire innovative laptop and PC designs. Intel platform on the go Whether for the family taking movies, music and games on vacation, or a business traveler always on the move, Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology delivers dramatic performance improvements (more than 70 per cent), while also reducing component power up to 28 per cent over previous generations. The result enables increased system responsiveness and improved battery life in a wide variety of innovative laptop designs. As an ultimate on-the-go, all-in-one entertainment device, Centrino Duo mobile technology features enhanced three-dimensional graphics (up to two times previous generations), and the option to view high-definition TV. When enabled with Intel High Definition Audio, it also features up to 7.1 surround sound with support for Dolby Digital. Using laptops based on Centrino Duo mobile technology, people can immerse themselves more completely in music, games and HD movies and TV, whether in the car, a coffee shop or on the plane. The performance of the Centrino Duo mobile technology platform helps businesses to be more responsive and productive as a result of better multitasking performance and collaboration capabilities, including enabling voice and video over IP, and improved battery life. The platform supports Intel Active Management technology and Intel Virtualization technology, innovative silicon-based features for enhanced manageability and bolstered security.

the current secretary of state is becoming more laughable by the week in her proclamations.
The Asian nations aren’t going to commit ideological suicide, as most Western nations seem determined to do.
Dan Griswold, is that you?!
Whatta load of horse hockey.
I think it’s a huge ego boost to her when she gets applauded by the internationalist elite types.
