LOS ANGELES - Rock 'n' roll pioneer Ike Turner, who rose to fame in the 1950s and became a star performing with his ex-wife, Tina Turner, has died at age 76, said an official with the performer's management company.
"Ike Turner passed away this morning. He was at his home," in San Marcos, Calif., in the suburbs of San Diego, said Scott Hanover, of Thrill Entertainment.

Had me fooled. RIP Ike.
Just the sort of tasteless headline I’d expect from that piece of trash.
May God have mercy on his soul. Bastard.
He was apparently able to overcome his marital past to “become a star performing with his ex-wife”!
Tina is still alive.
I know... I am a huge Tina fan. She is a hero of mine. I know what he did to Tina, hence the statement.
Sorry, this was not the headline. It was in todays post but on page 10.
RIP, Ike. The Peace that passes Understanding...
In spite of it all, Ike did record what many consider the very first rock ‘n roll record ever; “Rocket 88” back in 1951.
I meant the headline for the article (also on the webpage).
The Ike and Tina Turner Review played at our college. I didn’t go see them but after their performance she asked if she could make a phone call long distance from the University Switchboard which I was operating.
I told her she couldn’t but I would place a collect call for her. She was nice about it and made the collect call.
As long as he stays dead, it’s all good.
This ‘headline’ is just another in the long line of NY Post classics, see “ http://nymag.com/nymetro/news/anniversary/35th/n_8568/"
especially the one about the cigar!.
What a tasteless headline! Whoever came up with that one should be smacked upside the head.
