And your candidate is?

ROFL! You Paulies all do that, too, as if we are all slavishly worshiping our candidates. We see our candidates as human beings whose values are similar to our own; we don't worship them as gods. If you want to know who my candidate is, you just have to pay attention. Sort of like figuring out where Springfield is on The Simpsons.

Sure is, I always get a laugh out of Big Government supporters calling themselves conservatives...

Yeah, so do I. Oh, and I'm not a Big Government supporter and have never professed to be. That's all in your little Ron-Paul-Worshipping mind. You Paulies like to decide our views for us. You make these little assumptions simply because we are not Ron Paul acolytes.

I am a conservative with strong conservative values. I am not a libertarian and there is a big difference.

Ron Paul is not the answer. And Ron Paul will never be my candidate.

Both the WTO and CAFTA could force Americans to get a doctor’s prescription to take herbs and vitamins. Alternative treatments could be banned.

LOL!

“You conveniently leave out the rest of history. Estimates were of up to 1 million casualties/deaths of such an invasion, so we dropped a few bombs instead to force an earlier surrender.”

And YOU leave out history in the fact that if the A bomb failed in testing, OR if the Japanese still didn’t surrender after the bombing of Nagasaki, the invasion would have still happened.

As far as the casualties, the President and the Generals accepted that it was the price that had to be paid for total victory.

“Funny - I talk about America keeping Nazi troops from coming ashore in America, and you talk about the British navy being on the ropes. Are you seriously comparing the 1941 British navy to the US Navy and saying we’d have had at least as bad a time ? We who fought two naval fronts simultaneously ? We, who were sending millions of tonnes of material overseas to our own troops and our allies, wouldn’t have used them to defend ourselves ?”

Funny but it’s obvious that you didn’t read what I had said.

It wasn’t until AFTER we entered the war that the tide turned against the German wolfpacks.
Early on it was still bad for us, and it wasn’t until our industrial base was fully revved up that we were able to launch Liberty ships faster than they were being sunk, as well as the introduction of radar equipped aircraft and the little escort carriers that the tide fully turned against the Germans

By March 1943, the supply situation in Britain was such that there was talk of being unable to continue the war effort, with supplies of fuel being particularly low. It appeared that Dönitz was winning the war.

But 2 months later the tables were finally starting to turn.

The mid-Atlantic gap that had been unreachable by aircraft was closed by long-range B-24 Liberator aircraft. By spring 1943 the British had developed an effective sea-scanning centimetric radar small enough to be carried on patrol aircraft armed with airborne depth charges. Centimetric radar greatly improved detection and nullified the German Metox radar warning equipment. Further air cover was provided by the introduction of merchant aircraft carrier or MAC ships and later the growing numbers of American-built escort carriers. Flying Grumman Wildcats primarily, they sailed in the convoys and provided the much needed air cover and patrols all the way across the Atlantic.

The larger numbers of escorts became available, both as a result of American building programmes and the release of escorts that had been tied up in the North African landings during November and December 1942. In particular, destroyer escorts (similar British ships were known as frigates) were designed, which could be build more economically than expensive fleet destroyers and were also more seaworthy than corvettes. There would not only be sufficient numbers of escorts to securely protect convoys, they could also form hunter-killer groups (often centered around escort carriers) to aggressively hunt U-boats.

So let’s see, we entered the war in Dec ‘41, and it wasn’t until June of ‘43 before major successes were made and the wolfpacks were stopped. That’s roughly a year and a half AFTER we entered the war.

“We mustered probably the finest fighting force and sent them overseas with very long supply lines, stretching all the way across the Atlantic. You think Hitler would have done better?”

We don’t know do we? If he had finished the British off, we would not have had the airfields close enough to launch the B-17 raids, and would have had to wait for the introduction (in sufficient numbers) of the B-29 in late 1943 to early 1944

From Warbirdally.com’s B-29 history page:
“Based on Charles Lindbergh’s assessment of the potency of the Luftwaffe, American strategists in 1939 acknowledged that the United States would have to fight Nazi Germany from American soil should Germany invade England, which then seemed highly probable.”
http://www.warbirdalley.com/b29.htm

IF given the chance, and he didn’t stupidly invade Russia he probably would have tried an invasion hence the reason why coastal defense batteries (especially those in the northeast) were heavily fortified.

Before the fall of Germany, they were working on aircraft that could have very well reached the United States. These included the Messerschmitt Me 264, Focke-Wulf Fw 300 (a further development of the Fw 200 Condor), Focke-Wulf Ta 400, and the Junkers Ju 390. They were also working on submarine launched V-1’s and ship launched V-2’s to be aimed at New York and possibly Washington D.C.

If Germany could have held on for another year or so we would have seen the introduction of smaller heavily armed jet powered fighters in large enough numbers as well as the introduction of surface to air (Wasserfall) and air to air missiles that it could have very well turned the tide in the air war over Germany. They were also working on new armored vehicles that had a 2 or 3 man crew (as opposed to the typical 5 man crew of the Panther and Tiger). These new tanks were smaller and faster, and had plenty of armor protection. They would be used in ambushes followed up by swarm attacks.

Then there were new bombs being developed such as the “Liquid Air Bomb” and the “Fuel Air Bomb” that had devastating effects out to 500 meters.

But like I said, if hitler didn’t attack Russia and concentrated on defeating England, things could have very well turned out differently. And if hitler didn’t defeat England, and authorized the use of those panzer divisions against the allied landings at Normandy, the ground war there could very well have stretched into 1946 or possibly 1947.

“NAFTA’s superhighway is just one part of a plan to erase the borders between the U.S. and Mexico, called the North American Union. This spawn of powerful special interests, would create a single nation out of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, with a new unelected bureaucracy and money system. Forget about controlling immigration under this scheme.”

FYI your heerow is helping to fund the NAFTA Superhighway AKA The Trans Texas Corridor AKA Interstate 69.

“Terrorism is a threat and can do a great deal of damage, but it cannot destroy us or enslave us, unless we allow fear of it do so.”

On that we disagree. I think there are things worth finghting over short of total destruction or slavery. A situation where they are free to try as many times as possible while we sit here and try to defend is basically accepting they will eventually get lucky again and kill thousands or even millions with a plague. I would much rather keep them on the run all over the world than sit back and let them establish themselves again like they had done in Afghanistan, free to attack again and again.

I have no disagreement with attacking any nation that is responsible for attacking the United States or protects those who do also.

The problem comes in trying to rebuild those nations into our image.

I liken terrorism to piracy and as such can be attacked whenever encountered.

[“You brought a different issue unto the thread.”]

And you hadn’t done that before?

And if I had, would it make it right?

[ “What you and Travis were discussing on property taxes had nothing to do with the topic being discussed.” ]

WHAT I SAID TO MNJOHNNIE ABOUT YOUR BUDDY TRAVIS NOT ANSWERING QUESTIONS WAS WELL WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF WHAT MNJOHNNIE SAID TO TRAVIS YOU MORON! OR DO I HAVE TO PUT IT INTO A COLORING BOOK FORMAT FOR YOU?

There may be many reasons for not answering a particular post by you, and none of which would have had anything to do with the subject that was being discussed.

Sometimes people just move on to other things, so him not answering your post is not a reflection on his vercity.

[ “All you were doing was ‘piling on’ Travis” ]

WHAAAAAAA!!!! PO’ WIDDLE TRAVIS CAN’T STAND UP FOR HIMSELF OR HIS VIEWS.

Oh, I am sure that he is quite able to do so, but the point is, it is bad manners to bring one argument on one thread over to another thread that has nothing to do with the subject being discussed.

Don’t jump threads - If you get involved in an argument in one thread, it’s considered poor manners to restart the previous argument in the middle of an unrelated thread.

I never asked you not to 'name call' only not to use profane language.

If you want to disregard a post in which I call you a name, such as statist, you are feel free to do so.

Just as Ron Paul supporters can ignore your posts when you do likewise.
