Huckabee's Family Field General (daughter Sarah Huckabee)
Time ^ | 12/11/2007 | Jay Newton-Small

Sarah Huckabee is desperately looking for a volunteer. It's a frigid Des Moines Sunday afternoon and the daughter of the upstart Republican presidential candidate is holding court in her new corner office above the campaign's Iowa headquarters. Her dad, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, may suddenly be a front-runner in Iowa, and in South Carolina as well, but his rising profile has its own complications. Today she is dealing with a shortage of drivers...

(snip)

At 25, Huckabee is no dilettante trying to ride Daddy's coattails. After leaving her job as a regional liaison with the Education Department in Washington, Huckabee has spent the past year directing field operations for her father's campaign. Six weeks ago, overcoming her hatred of the cold, she moved to Des Moines to be her Dad's eyes and ears on the ground in the state that will make or break his presidential hopes. "There is a degree of trust between them that is very special. It's special for family and special in a political adviser — and in her he has both," said Eric Woolson, who runs the Huckabee campaign in Iowa.

Sarah — who has two older brothers, one of whom is also working full-time for the campaign — thought about going to law school after graduating from her father's alma mater, Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas. Instead, she switched gears, heading to Washington and the Department of Education; along the way she has worked on two of her Dad's gubernatorial campaigns, a local race in Oregon and President Bush's reelection campaign in Ohio. She inherited the organizational talents of her mother, Janet (who until recently worked for the Red Cross in Little Rock), and the passion for politics of her Dad, and no small amount of his famous charm...

From Rasmussen today:

“In the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, Mike Huckabee attracts support from 23% of Likely Republican Primary voters nationwide and Rudy Giuliani earns the vote at 20% support. The frontrunners are followed by Mitt Romney at 14%, Fred Thompson at 10% and John McCain at 8% (see recent daily numbers). Ron Paul currently attracts 6% of Likely Republican Primary voters nationwide.”

Yep, the dirt slingers are losing ground!

No, but I really should.

Some artists work in water colors, some in oil, but some of us use sarcasm.

So ya, if a real candidate would like to pay me to post, then they call me.

P.S. You are him aren't ya, governor?

Nice girl. They have quite an uphill battle, it would seem.

To wit,

Check this out, just now, on a LIBERAL BLOG, from Atlantic Monthly. I would say this is rather typical of what I am seeing internally in the Lib Dem camp regarding Huck. It is not good. Wake up GOP / Grassroots voters. Don't screw 2008 up!!

"I'm praying to Mike Huckabee's god that he gets the nomination. Could you see that empty suit trying to stand up to any of the big three Dems in a debate? Obama and Edwards can out preach him any day of the week, and Hillary would just make him look like a moron. Bring on the Huckleberry Posted by Jack | December 12, 2007 4:52 PM "

“Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms shouldn’t be a federal agency...it should be a convenience store”

Disclaimer...I’m not a fan of the BATF either. So the below story isn’t in support of the ATF.

Back in the early 90s, my wife and I were on a return trip from Cinncinati, OH back to Oklahoma City, OK. We had just gotten through St. Louis when we ran into a horrible traffic jam about 5 miles (east) outside of St. Louis. We we in stop and creep traffic for over an hour and barely went a mile. I had an old fashioned AAA “trip tic” that planned by route to OKC. The map showed if we exited at the next exit North into rural MO we could take state hwys around and come back onto I-44 about 30 miles down the road and hopefully beyond any jam. So, we took the chance and exited 44 to the rural hwys.

Well, I was used to flat OK back then and had never seen a true rural area. The AAA map didn’t even begin to show the roads correctly. So, about an hour into the trip with the sun going down, we found ourselves lost. We entered some small town and decided to ask for directions. We pulled up to a “quick trip” type gas station store. Being a real man, I sent my wife inside to get the directions.

While I was sitting in the car waiting, I looked up at what was painted on the side of this building where I was parked. In foot high red letters it read:

LIQUOR
AMMUNITION
FOOD

When I saw this, I had to do a double take. It immediately caused this mental image to pass through my mind. “A bunch of KKK guys come to the store to buy booze and ammo to get drunk and shoot up the local black minorities, and then have plenty of food for a feast afterward.” Of course, now that I have gotten to know Missouri much better, I realize I was wrong. But, I still chuckle when I think about the sign on that wall and how it freaked me a little.

I love Conservative states. I wonder which will be the last to fall to the disease of Socialism and collectivism and the “greater good”.

Personnally, I’m more concerned about losing freedom because more “law” will be necessary to keep the inmates in order because they no longer have morals to police themselves. A moral people don’t need large goverment, only the immoral and lawless. IHO the greatest danger to the “American” way of life is the ever increasing lack of common morality and decency in American culture.

Will electing Huckabee or Thompson change this. No, because government isn’t the solution. However, having a president friendly to the “solution” may help. That way government won’t get in the way of the “solution” and thus less government will be needed.

What is the “solution”? It is a revival of a healthy fear of God and the earnest seeking after Jesus Christ. These things cannot or should not come from government. This will require divine intervention in the hearts and minds of people. A sovereign act of God.

First Newsweek, now Time. The liberal media sure loves Huckabee.

As I’ve said before, he’s the Democrats’ favorite Republican, having replaced McCain. McCain lost favor when he started to make some conservative noises in the campaign.
