Boehner admits GOP money situation ‘sucks'

“Now the money sucks for two reasons,” Boehner said in a Politico interview. “People are mad at the president; they are mad at the party. And then [there is] this whole immigration fight. People just turned off the spigot.”

Boehner has undertaken a study, consulting corporate image experts, to “re-brand” the party. But so far, no big ideas have emerged. Some of his own colleagues regard Boehner as more of a transitional figure, between the Gingrich-DeLay era (in truth, both men drove Boehner to distraction) and the next generation of leadership.

Exactly. I can keep my money and get crappy immigration legislation from the dems for free.

Whenever GOP fund raisers call I say the same thing, “You’re not getting one red cent from me until the Mexican border fence is fully built.” I then hang up.

Be very sceptical [sic] of anything you read in The Politico.

Well, I wouldn't let it form my opinion, but I do have to take Boehner's quote at face value, especially since it conforms to my belief that Americans are seething, and the politicians don't have a clue how angry they are.

The money situation "sucks" because the candidates "suck."

This nails it. NOTHING has disgusted and turned off the base more than Bush’s speech attacking patriotic citizens as bigots for objecting to his unlimited, no-strings-attached amnesty for criminal illegal aliens by overwhelming tens of million.

How dumb can you get? The Democrat base doesn’t support amnesty any more than the conservative base does. The unions hate it. Bernie Sanders voted against it. That’s why Teddy and Nancy wanted it to be known as Bush’s bill—because nobody liked it but the illegals themselves, and the politicians who want their votes.

And Bush would do it again in a New York Minute if he thought he could get away with it.

Every time you call for money we say close the borders, deport the illegal aliens, and English only. Nothing has changed.

Be skeptical of most anything. But I have read about the GOP’s money situation in many sources. I sent them several “Bush Pesos”, myself.

The GOP fundraiser who called during the middle of the immigration debacle couldn't understand why I was so angry at him for calling. I told him I'd call back if the 'pubs changed their stance on immigration and dumped the comprehensive reform garbage and did not nominate guliani. The fundraiser admitted that he couldn't identify a single issue other than a vague "Guliani is very good on the war on terror" that matched the party's platform in any of the last several elections. I definitely turned off my spigot until they get their act together.

Hey John, if you have to resort to that you're really out of the loop.

Try adhering to conservative principles for a change. Bet that spigot would open a little.

RINOS out!

This is beginning to sound like the socialist Democrats trying to reinvent their image. How dense can the GOP be? After consulting with my staff of one, my study concludes the GOP needs to stop appeasing and compromising with the socialist left and return to what once was its Conservative base.

I guess I'm cheap. I only sent them one.

Do you suppose they have to be hit by a 2x4 again?

This guy is really cutting edge. What did they think would happen when the Fedgov not only aided and abetted this violent invasion of our country, the Commander in Chief actually publicly encouraged it.

Here's a copy of a little note I sent to the RNC using one of their prepaid envelopes (sorry for the shouting):

CLOSE THE BORDER AND THEN I MIGHT CONSIDER SENDING YOU SOME REAL MONEY.

START FIGHTING BACK AGAINST THE DEMOCRAT LIES AND THEN I MIGHT CONSIDER SENDING YOU SOME REAL MONEY.

START FIGHTING BACK AGAINST DEMOCRAT VOTE FRAUD AND THEN I MIGHT CONSIDER SENDING YOU SOME REAL MONEY.

STOP SUPPORTING DEMOCRATS MASQUERADING AS REPUBLICANS AND THEN I MIGHT CONSIDER SENDING YOU SOME REAL MONEY.

STOP HIDING UNDER YOUR DESKS EVERY TIME HARRY REID OPENS HIS MOUTH AND THEN I MIGHT CONSIDER SENDING YOU SOME REAL MONEY.

PARDON BORDER AGENTS IGNACIO RAMOS AND JOSE COMPEAN AND THEN I MIGHT CONSIDER SENDING YOU SOME REAL MONEY.

UNTIL YOU DO THESE THINGS, YOU ARE DESTINED TO BE A MINORITY PARTY FOREVER.

Well, I just sent him the following email with a link to this thread:

Word has it you are discouraged about GOP money prospects. I encourage you to visit this site for ideas on how to correct that problem: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1938626/posts.

You'll get an earfull, but it should give you an idea of how to correct the mess Congress has caused.

A lifelong Republican who's fed up with Congress and our President.

Every little bit helps...
