It is very hard to argue with your point.

I should add that I thank God for George Bush, as it could have been so much worse, too. It is like being thankful for small favors. A generous God would have given us the War on Terror's Reagan, but that would make things too easy on us. Instead, we will have to make a lot of changes in society that will then teach us the things we need to know to win a war for civilization. Until that day arrives, we will be too genteel and PC to win this battle.

Sadly, Bush could have been that person, had he had just a little bit more gumption, a little more strategic foresight, and a lot more media savvy. He could have won this war by now, had he identified the enemy properly, taken it to the terrorists in Iraq in fall 2002, and used that as a springboard to bring about regime change in Iran and Syria. Saudi Arabia needed to be brought in line as well, not coddled.

The world is only marginally safer now than it was after 9-11, but it would be far more dangerous had Al Gore been President. So, for that, and for Bush's refusal to allow Iraq to become a defeat, we can be thankful. It will buy us time to find the man who will win this.
