Quiet Riot Singer Died of Overdose 1 day ago

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The death last month of Kevin Dubrow, lead singer for the 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot, has been ruled an accidental cocaine overdose. Clark County coroner spokeswoman Samantha Charles confirmed the cause Monday after toxicology results were received Monday.

Dubrow was found dead Nov. 25 at his Las Vegas home. He was 52.

Quiet Riot was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of "Cum on Feel the Noize." The song, featuring Dubrow's powerful, gravelly voice, appeared on the band's album "Metal Health" — which was the first by a metal band to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

DuBrow recorded a solo album in 2004, "In for the Kill," and the band's last studio CD, "Rehab," came out in October 2006.

That's less surprising than, well, anything, ever.

"Cum on Feel the Noize."

That was one of the first rock songs I remember hearing when I was a kid.

I don’t know how much gas I burned back then, riding around with “Bang Your Head” blaring from the speakers in my 72 Cutlass.

Dang he needed to get with the prog. Jimmy Page, Robert Plant performed last night and all I can say is it was all due to the fact that cocaine is out and herbal tea is in :-).

I used to take way too massive bong hits to this song . . . lol. Of course it all ended with me in rehab at 18 and getting sober officially at 21. Thank God. This guy is 52. Glad I have God. That just seems like a long life wasted. Wonder how many kids he had.

I never much cared for the band, but I hope the man rests in peace. I am surprised, however, that if he never changed from the 80s, that it took this long for him to kill himself.

For comparison:

" In their heyday they were the lords of excess - with vodka for breakfast and champagne for supper fuelling a 24-hour party habit. Yesterday, however, it was clear that Led Zeppelin had come down to Earth after a very long high. [...] The band - reformed for the first time in 19 years - requested little more than a constant flow of caffeine-free herbal tea and sparkling water for their backstage dressing room. Concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith said: "They are much older now obviously and are very low maintenance. They've asked for cups of tea. We'll have some beer and a bottle of wine for them backstage but they have said they require very little. "

Whole lotta herb tea of Led Zeppelin's stairlift to heaven

I never ran into a cocaine time in life...

But I do have an issue with Crystal Lite fake sweet tea vs. the plain herbal tea.

Herbal tea is what I am working for over the fake sugar stuff but the run to the potty with plain herbal water is making me a bit irratable.

No way. He went with a straight-hair, blonde wig?

He should have just shaved it bald.

Metal Health was a big part of the soundtrack of my high school years—at least my sophomore year.

Unfortunately, I’m not surprised it was an overdose. May God have mercy on him.

lol. I have transcended just in the last few months to straight herbal without any sweeteners! The potty trips will run their course soon I am sure—maybe it is just flushing out the old. Give ‘er time :-). It has taken 20 years to drink the stuff without the fake sweeteners. Got sick of reading how everything causes cancer (sweeteners) and switched to straight up decaf green and green. I love your aspiration and understand it :-). Sounds worthy to me.

“Yea who could believe a rock star ODing on drugs?”

This one was surprising. In the 80’s, Dubrow was known as a teetotaler. He lost some of his rock “cred” when reporters found out the Jack Daniels bottle he was swigging on stage was filled with herbal tea. Somewhere along the way, he obviously gave in to the lifestyle, which is a damn shame.

My son is big on Christian and Country music and I was raised on the Motown sound.

However his long lost Dad who just made a trip with his paternal Aunts to visit brought all this Lynrd Synrd (sic) stuff stickers, tee shirts, CD ect.

Son and I just looked at each other as in who the heck is Lynrd Skynrd????
Then he heard the story on the news last night about the Led Zepplen concert and asked isn’t that the band Dad likes.

Um no it’s Lynrd Skynrd.

LOL I reminded his long lost Dad that I remember him singing J.Geils Fooled around and Fell In Love to me back then.

That didn’t go over to well. : )

That's less surprising than, well, anything, ever.

What is surprising is that DuBrow still had the financial means to afford a lethal amount of cocaine. Cocaine ain't cheap and I don't think DuBrow was exactly rolling in cash these days.

Hey I wondered about the guy who does the comedy show with Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable guy.

He is always sipping on “scotch” and smoking a cigar.

I bet he is sipping tea.

The fake scotch has to be part of the act.
Reason I wondered is he would be I would think fallin’ over drunk at the end of the HBO special if he was sippin that much scotch.
