Hugo's Crude Politics
IBD ^ | December 11, 2007

Politics: Joe Kennedy's back, playing Santa Chavez with a new sleigh full of Venezuelan heating oil for "the poor." The tropical dictator's politicized "gift," however, comes with strings. We see Joe dancing on them.

Kennedy made a loud production of his new $25 million shipment of oil for the poor, courtesy of the Venezuelan-government-owned Citgo, to be distributed through his Citizens Energy. Cameras rolling, Kennedy ostentatiously lumbered into Braintree, Mass., on a tanker with red-jacketed acolytes all around him.

In the cadence of a docker, Kennedy made no bones about this being political.

"Our government gets their panties in a knot much more than most Americans do about Hugo Chavez," Kennedy told the Boston Globe. "I'll tell you I wish we had a little more leadership in this country that has a concern for the poor and the disenfranchised as we do in other parts of the world," he said, adding that he would never be "in the tank to Hugo Chavez."

But Kennedy's been in the charity oil business for years, and he knows that Chavista crude isn't the only solution for high oil prices hitting the poor. Oil can be bought, and he could get the cash just as easily for his program by hitting up some foundation to buy the oil.

Treason, if he’s accepting “free” heating oil he’s probably taking money too and from a state which has proven to be working against American interests. Aren’t there laws against this kind of thing? Or do they not apply to the Kennedys?

Kennedy acepts Chavez’s gift in order to help the poor in Massachusetts - who are rich in comparison to the truly poor in Venezuela.

So Kennedy is a lot like most of our politicians and bureaucrats, sucking up to the enemy for oil. I’d rather see oil rationing than see our current debacle.

John Fitzgerald was probably the last Kennedy who wasn’t a sellout.

Citizen Oil has a ‘non profit’, help the poor part, and quite a few, private, for profit companies. I’m sure Joe is compensated in some way by Hugy and others. The Kennedy Coven are running out of cash. No one has had a real job since before WW II. So, it’s back to old Joe’s old habits, of skirting the law and getting rich. Joe, Jack Kennedys dad did it during Prohibition where he partnered with the Canadian Bromfman family in smuggling in booze.

I can’t think of a Kennedy I even like. All of them pretty much disgust me. I think the only one I like at all is Caroline but I really don’t know too much about her.

So would Mr. Kennedy accept a "gift for the poor" from Hitler? Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Joe and the other young Kennedys receive handsome salaries from several foundations. They are working the 501 C 3 scam to perfection.

In this case, Chavez has found an excellent way to pass a bribe. Nada mas.

Correct. The Kennedy money passed to the Chicago Mob was more of a buyout. First for the election of 1960, then for the hit on Castro.
