LAS VEGAS - Six junior high or high school students were shot Tuesday after they got off a school bus, and two were critically hurt, police said.
Gunshots rang out in northeast Las Vegas just before 2 p.m., Officer Bill Cassell said.
Six young people were transported to area hospitals. Four had minor gunshot injuries and two were in critical condition, Cassell said.
At least two people are believed to have taken part in the shootings, he said. Police were not saying whether the shooting suspects were on foot or in a vehicle.
The shooting occurred less than a mile from two elementary schools, Woolley and Clyde Cox Elementary Schools. A Clark County School District official said the schools were not closed.

You both need to get off the “bash all public schools” bandwagon that is so pervasive on this forum.
The trouble makes the news, the good stuff never does.
No school is perfect, be it public or private, but the same is true for anything one looks at — if one is willing to look with an open mind.
When it comes to public schools it appears many on this forum do not have an open mind, which is a shame.
My prayers are with the victims of this senseless crime.
Actually I’m thinking we should post their names and if they survive do a monthly follow up. . Why are the last two that got caught not being made an example of. We have the one that killed his parents and the one that killed his principal in jail. Let others know that the chances are good that they will get caught and that everything will be done to bring them in alive. Show them what they have to look forward to.
Thank goodness...
Nothing they do would have stopped this from happening...
I give them full credit for this one though...
Yep, there fault!
Savage said the same thing. Maybe it was him.
It is inevitable. When I was in highschool, I wanted to kill everybody. I didnt because it was unimaginable. Now it is inevitable. The kids have been given a green light by the Columbine and VA Tech killers. Killing lots of people is now comprehensible, and should I say "an option".
I was right across the street from VA Tech on May 16th, and I heard the gunfire while checking my mailbox. I was stunned at myself when I didnt go into shock when I found out what happened 2 hours later, not more than 300 yards away from my place. It dosent shock me, because I have become used to it. The frog placed in cold water has come to a boil and is dead.
“How’d I do? Was I persuasive? I just about threw up writing that crap ....”
You’ve got a future with the Brady Bunch dude. I was so touched I’m going down and empty the safe and take them all to the police station to turn them in. Sniff!

300,000 students in Clark County, Nevada, have brain dead parents!
What parent in their right mind would subject their child to school system that needs a gang unit?
“It strikes me that Sunday’s incident in Colorado works against the gun grabbers. Perp stopped in his tracks by private citizen carrying a concealed firearm.”
There’s been a lot of pro-gun stuff on the radio here in Colorado. On Coast to Coast last night the first hour was a pro-gun guy and even George Noory admitted that he’s a CCW permit holder and carries. Lou Dobbs was even speaking favorably of the guy in Texas that shot the two burglars. People seem to be fed up with the be-a-victim mentality that is pushed by the anti-gun crowd.
It wasn’t Savage because, I don’t get him here, but it may have been a news person who heard it from Savage and liked it.
“Lots of anger and tightly wound people...Walking mental time bombs, planning for the big day. Throw in tens of thousands of gang members, many here illegally, many with nothing to lose, that don’t fear jail one bit...A second home if you will.”
My wife was reading me the riot act tonight because I haven’t gotten my carry permit here in Colorado. I had one in Tennessee but never bothered when we moved because the town where we live just isn’t as dangerous as Nashville and you can carry in your vehicle here.
What trend? There are shootings every day, just like this. Its just the trendy thing to report for now. After a while they'll pick on something else.
Normally, shootings are just a local story. Gang shootings aren't even worthy of local news in places like LA or Detroit.
I notice that the Colorado church shooter was homeschooled, and said to be from a devoutly religious family, but that doesn't make me think every Christian or homeschooled kid is going to go off the deep end.
FWIW, my minority students tell me that gangs do their shootings in the community, not at school. They say it's only the crazy middle-class white kids who try to shoot people at school.
INDEED.
What Las Vegas is in Nevada, but Las Vegas != Nevada.
Las Vegas is filled with more head cases than you can count.
Would it be fair to use him as an example of what home-schooled Christians are like?
Fox - your post is so sad. I never knew anybody who ‘wanted to kill’ anyone. I am so sorry that you were dealt such horrible blows in your youth.
And, you lived close to the Va Tech shootings? That had to be a shock to you.
I raised my children just down the street from where the Colorado shooter was raised. My kids even played in that house and yard, when they were little. That shocked me.
We must not allow ourselves to become ‘numb’ to what seems to be happening in our country. We must continue to be alert, and (if we can) pray.
Hugs to you — and I mean that. HUGS!
