Well, Trebek himself took over from Art Fleming, who had done the show for many years, so I'm sure someone else could handle it with equal aplomb. But if I were Trebek, I would have long since retired and immersed myself in personal interests. I'm amazed he doesn't get bored with the show after all these years.

Let’s say they do ~200 shows a year. That’s ~100 hours of taping. 8 hours, once a month, depending how they schedule it.
Not very hard duty.

I'm amazed he doesn't get bored with the show after all these years. Occasionally, I see him astounded or dismayed at what the contestants don't know. The "answers" vary from ridiculously easy to fairly difficult. Last week he discovered how much Americans don't know about Canada. ;o)
