We switched to a VOIP “land-line” and it definitely saves us over a traditional land-line... And it’s still completely compatible with fax. :)

I switched to Vonage VoIP service several years ago. It cost $35 per month, phone + Fax. The service has been great. I dropped my phone bill from $135 per month to $35. Verizon will never see me again.

That may be so, but if power goes out in your area, you have no comms. At least the POTS lines supply their own power.
