We live in a fallen world. We're visited with violence constantly, and it is up to us, each, to defend against it. Failure to do so, I recon, makes us complicit with those who act to bring harm. I take it as a sin to not prepare oneself for such an event and see it as a scoff towards the gift of life God's granted.

I suppose you fail to see that such preventative measures were necessary on Sunday?

I don't fail to see anything. It's been a fallen world since man's fall from grace. Yet we've survived and prospered without 'security' in our churches as we seem to require now. Does this mean man is more evil today than in the past? I think not. OTOH, have we in our religious organizations changed our focus on what God's mission to us truly is?
