Is Congressman Poe a liar?
Is the army personel lying?
I think many of you haven't read the story, there are many credible witnesses here. A GOP Congressman and army personel seem pretty credible to me.
I don’t think it has anything to do Halliburton. People have a right to be skeptical. And yes, people are going to believe what they want to believe.
There are some oddities in the story and the burden of proof in any case, whether it be Paula Jones or the Duke Lax case, is on the individual making the charge.
I Agree With You 100 % :)
I find it a little odd as well. The company is supporting our efforts in Iraq and they catch a lot of flak from leftists, so I think that explains some of the support. I guess that makes a reflexive defensiveness understandable, but certainly not wise.
Just to add my 2 cents: I was in Iraq in 2005, and had a good deal of interaction with KBR personnel, both on missions and during down time. I found that most were fairly decent people, but there were a substantial minority that seemed pretty shady.
I talked to one KBR guy who seemed pretty decent and couldn't wait to get home ASAP. He said there was a LOT of drug use, prostitution, and criminal behavior going on amongst his civilian coworkers, and the extra money just wasn't enough to put up with it all. I ran across that same sentiment from a couple of other employees and from some of the military liaisons as well.
I don't say this to imply that KBR is automatically guilty or a bad organization. Admittedly, my experiences are not as extensive as some of the Freeper contractors who've been over there for several years. I just think it might be healthy to maintain a little skepticism and not to assume that the company is snow-white just because they are hated by the Democrats.
