When someone steals your debit/check card, they are stealing your actual money out of your actual bank accounts.
When they steal your credit card, they aren’t.
That’s the difference, and it’s huge, imo.

I don't see how you figure that. If it's a credit card function you have the same protection as any other visa-branded credit card. Your bank has to replace the money within 24 hours.

Most banks treat the debit card like a credit card in that respect now adays. 5 years ago, you would be correct.
