I have a credit card and hardly ever use it, but if I do I pay it off right away.

I just thought you should know. :-D

Sometimes I even pay my neighbor's credit card bills.

I don’t even have a credit card. Why bother when I’m banking such coin filing bankruptcies for people who can’t or won’t pay their predators?

Who cares what the predators do, or what the law allows? I don’t care because I’m raking it in!

With the advent of debit/check cards, why would somemone need a credit card if they pay their balance every month?

We have 10 cards and owe millions. We pay the minimum due, usually using one card to pay the other. Thankfully, they are not all due on the same day of the month.

I’m not going to pretend I’ve never had credit card debt. I went on an extreme “debt diet” to reverse course and I’ve counseled friends whose credit card problems were much worse than mine. I learned that people should go to nonprofit credit counseling agencies and get help putting on the brakes as soon as they get into trouble. Your credit rating will be hurt in the short run, but you’ll be able to get off the pay-the-minimum-and-watch-your-debt-load-climb treadmill. People should get help getting their credit cards under control before they are so desperate that they stop paying their bills. What happens then is that you rack up charge-offs on your credit report. These are virtually impossible to remove, and trying later to pay charged-off accounts actually can hurt your credit, so the best you can do is wait seven years for the charge-offs to drop off your reports (and hope you don’t get sued in the meantime). So, for those freepers out there who are, like me, imperfect: go to a nonprofit — the for-profit places are often scammers — credit counseling service ASAP.

Why, yes, I do pay my credit card balance off every month. Does that make me a bad person?

Not me. I keep all my cards maxed out so that if some sucker tries to steal my identity, they're screwed...no available credit for them! :-)

I would like to officially register the fact that I too, pay my credit card bills off every month.

I was afraid that if I didn't post this, there might be some out there who would make the assumption that I carry a balance.

Not us

Not us! Wish we did. We’ve paid it off twice but we still run it up more than I wish we did. I buy my Epson ink and some books on my card. Hubby ran it up a lot last year buying gas. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the statement. He’s been better this year.

!

I actually think this is a true statement. People in FR seem to be intelligent, conservative, and have high standards. Many of us have been through the “stupid” stages in life. I was pretty ignorant and dumb in my 20’s when I though credit cards were free money. Well of course I did not pay them off every month and actually had a few late payments. gasp!!!! But now that I am in my late 30’s I have for the last 10 years been MUCH better at ensuring my credit is good and within reason.

I was just thinking the same thing. I was also thinking its probably a load of BS in many instances. In a sane country, the bigwigs at the credit card companies would be tarred and feathered.
