“On immigration and many other things, there IS a split.”

Not with this northern Republican. We agree on all the issues, though maybe not with priorities. I don’t see that as being a North-South issue, though.

Yeah, I agree. I think the geographical nature is artificial and not wholly accurate. And the characterization of Southerners in the article is ridiculous (I'm a native Texan of over 50 years, so I think that applies to me).

I was replying to a statement, however, that the first paragraph or so gave enough information to show the writer as being...loony, I think he said. I disagree that that can be inferred.

There IS a palpable divide, however. It's just that the mixture isn't confined to two mixes, and the divisive issues aren't necessarily geographic. I agree.
