The shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Youth With a Mission center, Arvada Police spokeswoman Susan Medina said.

The extent of the injuries was not clear, and the gunman was still at large Sunday morning.

According to its Web site, Youth With a Mission has about 1,000 locations worldwide and trains people to become missionaries. About 50 people were inside the Arvada site when the gunman opened fire.

CNN is reporting that they were all taken to the hospital. Nothing more, so far.

The games don't make someone want to shoot people in real life. Maybe they're good training material, but the people who actually go on these rampages have other problems.

We need to make sure that young people and teenagers can draw the line between fantasy and reality. I was playing Halo this morning but when I switch off the game, the game ends. It doesn't carry over into real life. With some of these young shooters, I'm not sure if they're halfway in a game or just totally disgusted with their lives. Maybe both.

As a Christian, I believe, likewise, that depravity will worsen as time progresses. However, I think the 24hr news cycle which focuses on incidents like this for days upon days make it appear that society has worsened more than it has.

Or, taken another way, the past was worse than we thought because of the lack of news dissemination.

I love first-person tactical shooter games and I don’t have homicidal thoughts.

Look for a strong statement against anti-Christian bias in America soon from CACR (Council on American-Christian Relations).

Oh, wait...

What are the odds of him being charged with a "hate crime" for specifically targeting Christians?

Fox reporter on the scene is getting indications that the shooter was known around the dorms. Nothing concrete yet, just a “feeling” based on the questions police are asking.

I used to be a part of this organizatin and I have to say that I’m surprised something like this hasn’t happened before. They have habit of taking people in off the street with absolutely no knowledge of their background; some have proven to be quite dangerous. They also have very lax security in their dorms, so anyone could get in there if they wanted to.

"I'm getting the news all week from FR."

Likewise when I travel. FR is invaluable and snares reports from all over the world. One can gain a pretty complete and balanced view of what's going on in the world by cruising http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/browse twice a day.

Prayers up for the victims.

From YWAM.org:

YWAM Staff Killed in Denver
By Paul Filidis

It is with great sadness that we report the shooting death of two staff members at our YWAM Denver (Arvada) training location. The shooting occurred just after midnight, Sunday early morning; two additional staff members were injured, one is in critical condition. Please pray — for the families who are on their way to Denver — for the critically injured young man undergoing surgery today — for the staff and students who have been evacuated to another location — for the apprehension of the gunman who fled the scene

That’s sad. I hadn’t thought about having to evacuate people because the gunman is s till at large.

Here’s a link to the staff bios...mostly young people, some with small children.

The gunman was described as a white male, about 20 years old, said Medina. He may be wearing glasses and a dark skull cap or beanie. He also may be sporting a beard or mustache, she said.
