BTW - my guess is that if McCain dropped out, most of his support would go to Thompson. The reverse isn’t true, since it is McCain’s nuttiness (and position on immigration) that is a deal-breaker for most.

Exactly! I guess the DNC stalking points the Tim reads his questions from forgot to mention that.

His daughter is in one of his YouTube vids.I located the video of Sarah Huckabee the other day. His son David didn't remove a loaded firearm from his carry-on luggage earlier this year. John Mark and Sarah both work for the Huckabee campaign.
Why would a man use the campaign theme "family" and not have family photos proudly posted on his campaign website?

On Fox News Sunday, Bill Kristol spoke about the timing of Iran’s stoppage of a military nuclear program about the same time as our invasion of Iraq.
The followup argument for that needs to be that, if Joe Biden or Barack Obama or Bill Richardson or Ron Paul get into the White House and withdraw our presence from Iraq immediately, the logical expectation is that Iran will start the military program at the same time as our withdrawal.
Do all these analysts expect the listeners to connect the dots themselves?

We vote the man in as President not his Religion,and if a person does not have freedom of religion here, where in heck does he.
Excellent post, rodguy. I was just telling my mother how many comments I read on FR this week about Mitt not being a Christian. Says who? And if he was a Jew? Would he not be an acceptable candidate?
Frankly, I am tired of the folks who threaten to take their ball and go home every election. So go home. And get over yourselves!

Preachers kid syndrome gone wild!LOL--I learned about that phenomenon when I was in high school. Worked as a waitress--and our tips kept going missing. Turned out it was the preacher's daughter stealing all our hard earned money.

Against Hilary it wouldn't matter,she's weak also.But I really wish Fred would get it. My guess is after Hillary is anointed by her party at the convention she will triangulate right and illegal immigration will become a huge issue for her, she will do her best to lie her way into office after she has the nomination secured in blood.
Core-less opponents are the toughest to beat, they fool the no-nothings every time and lies are just methods to an end not really lies.

The Huckster really has the shifty Bill Clinton act down.
That interview was really bad. He couldn't defend his record or comments, and instead obfuscated and diverted all the questions away from him. When it came to AIDS, one moment he is saying he stood by the old comments, but then repudiated them as inaccurate. What?? He had no clue to foreign policy. Didn't answer the NIE questions, just said the CIA is the one that has problems, not his lack of knowledge of the issue. His immigration stance was stupid and illogical, and it is another 'pathway to citizenship' for illegals I don't like. And that answer about torture was from out-right liberal rhetoric--ugh! Really not liking Huck at all. I'm now more convinced than ever that the media is pushing bogus polls to prop this guy up.

Thanks...here's the analysis on the Mitt speech for those who missed it:
RUSH: I want to start with Mitt Romney today, Mitt Romney's speech. Frankly, I thought what we saw today, folks, was a Republican candidate for president giving an inspiring speech. It was an inspiring speech about American values, including religion. Mitt Romney did this because he has been relentlessly attacked as something less than a true American. I watched this. I had seen some excerpts from the speech published before he made it. I thought he was inspiring, folks. I think he set exactly the right tone and I am stunned by some of the criticism I am seeing of this speech, particularly on some conservative websites. "He didn't include atheists; he didn't include agnostics; he didn't say and reach out to Hindus." I don't understand it. Of all things to take from this speech that Romney gave today, that he didn't reach out to atheists and didn't reach out to agnostics, is beyond me. I thought he showed today his ability to confront, to articulate, to persuade, and to lead. (cont.)

What the hell did Biden just say? He doesn’t trust Mukasey. Wants a special counsel. NO NO NO NO NO, not another special counsel.
He thinks appointing special counsel will “take it out of the political realm.”

You make some good points but we have to remember RR does not exist any more but if you wanted go get as close to him as you could it would be Mitt or Fred,it's a bit of a morph but they are close.
We ran out of perfect candidates long ago.

I thought Romneys speech on religion was great and very misreported or interpreted by most everyone with a dog in the fight.
~~~~~~
I agree, and I think it’s an absolute outrage and abomination that this man is being pilloried and crucified over something we all treasure:
the supposedly impenetrable right to our choice of religion, guaranteed by the Constitution, and an expectation of a zone of privacy around that issue.
I’m not looking at him at my 1st choice in this campaign, but from my observations:
it’s clear he is a good and decent man
from a rock-solid family (even in those
contentious and prejudiced times, his
father apparently never had to go through
this ugly religious dissection)
who worked diligently to achieve his
professional and personal goals and
has been extraordinarily successful
who has raised a fine family of 5 sons
with a lovely and decent wife
whose life has never been linked to a
whiff of personal scandal, of which I’m
aware, and appears to adhere to a
high moral code of personal conduct
Yet, somehow today that zone of respect and “privacy” apparenlty only applies to:
killing inconvenient babies
and excludes that truly personal and private right of all our lives:
our religion.
Biden asks “who are you going to believe, Newt or 16 analysts who have reaced a unanimous decision.” Obviously, Biden hasn’t read the NIE.
