Brilliant post here NN.
And just what race were these Irish and Eastern Europeans of, that was so despicable?
Thanks Kabar.
Freepers....boom...they always have the answer. And I DO want to understand it.
One believes he is God's candidate, and the other believes he IS God.
Yeah, theres a bit of ego there...
Topic
Your welcome. It is a lengthy read, but it gives you all sides of the issue put forth by recognized experts on the subject. The US is one of only 33 countries that have unqualified birthright citizenship. Canada doesn’t have it but Mexico does.
Huckabee is very good at “leveling.” That is, he has the ability to directly communicate with the lower middle and working class audience. He does so without needing to tout some special credentials or abilities. Besides “leveling” he is also adept at dealing with hard and controversial issues.
Case in point, for Huckabee was when he was asked about Romney’s religion. Huckabee replied to the effect he was willing to discuss his own religion but not that of other candidates. A great answer! It fits the common belief (often mistaken) that one should not judge other’s values or beliefs yet affirmed his own. With one sentence or two he countered the lengthy Romney speech on Mormonism. Huckabee has spent a professional lifetime thinking and answering as to his faith and he is a master at working it into his speeches and interviews in a nonthreatening way.
Another boon for Huckabee is he is increasingly corralling the pro-life vote. This vote is a “pennant issue” in that it signifies a host of often unspoken social issues. Presumably, besides his other attributes the Iowans now see him as the pennant bearer on pro-life and other social issues. It will be difficult for other candidates to take this away from him.
All of this is great for Huckabee, but I doubt if he will sell as well in large states and without adequate financing he will remain a question mark to more secular voters.
As far as McCain goes, I was impressed with his sober, thoughtful demeanor. No flashes of anger or petulance! He seems to have reached a feeling state of peace and acceptance and has ceased the hypervigalent approach to political discussions. Better, but too late.
You actually READ the NIE. This is the hook in it you Leftists keep missing.
1st off it insists Iran DID have a nuke program. Something the Iranians, and you Junk Media types, have been denying.
Then it claims the program stopped in 2003, LONG before any diplomatic pressure was brought to bear on them.
What else happened in 2003 Timmy?
Well the Libyans gave up their WMD program. But what else happened?
Timmy? Any of the other Leftists in the Junk Media having orgasms over this NIE?
Well GW Bush labeled Iran part of the “Axis of Evil” and then liberated Iraq. Something you Tim Russert, like the rest of the Junk Media, savagely condemned.
So, if you assume the NIE is correct, it would indicate once again Bush was right to go into Iraq, and all the Democrats pretending to be “Journalists” in the US Junk Media all wrong.
Considering how frequently, and consistently, the US News Media from Tim Russert on down get every thing, one has to wonder why anyone takes them seriously anymore?
Mttt did do an excellent job on his "I am a Mormon speech so what",
Again I ask the question of all what would Mitt the Mormon do that Mitt the Methodist would not do? Is there any reason(rational) to believe that Mitt will govern any differently as Mormon than as a Methodist, Catholic or any other religion? I don't think so!!(And by the way he is still my # 2 choice behind Fred)
We vote the man in as President not his Religion, and if a person does not have freedom of religion here, where in heck does he.
So why did the National Right to Life Committee, the largest U.S. pro-life group, endorse Fred?
What will really count for us and the nation is how we do come together as a party after the convention.
If those who don't get everything they want pout and stay home or worse yet try and create a third party(which is getting a little late now) we are screwed.
If on the other hand we do come together as a united party to fight the forces of evil within the DBM/DNC/Demorat party we will win hands down.
Ping for later
Just saw the Huckster on FOX NEWS SUNDAY. He wants a path to Citizenship not take years BUT take days! He said if we can do stuff like financial transactions over the internet in a matter of seconds, we should be able to send illegal aliens home and within a matter of days they can be back, working legally with their heads held high.
Bush Administration had a program in operation that required Employers to verify SS numbers of new hires. Clinton appointed Judge blocked it.
Another example of where the real battle lines in this fight are drawn that has been ignored by both the Junk media and the Anti Illegal activists.
Why not both? I think my problem with the 'pro-lifers' - since I consider myself to be a social conservative - is that they are equating talk (the HRA) to action (appointing judges that might overturn Roe vs Wade).
I'd be happy with the action, and Rudy and Mitt are the only ones I'd worry about on that account.
I BEG TO DIFFER WITH YOU!
HAVE YOU DONE YOUR RESEARCH???
Mike Huckabee: In the words of those conservatives who know him best
Here are some recent statements on the character and background of recent conservative favorite Mike Huckabee:
Phyllis Schlafly, president of Eagle Forum:
“He destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas, and left the Republican Party a shambles ... Yet some of the same evangelicals who sold us on George W. Bush as a ‘compassionate conservative’ are now trying to sell us on Mike Huckabee.”
Betsy Hagan, Arkansas director of the Eagle Forum and a key backer of his early runs for office:
“He was pro-life and pro-gun, but otherwise a liberal ... Just like Bill Clinton he will charm you, but don’t be surprised if he takes a completely different turn in office.”
Blant Hurt, former columnist for Arkansas Business magazine:
“He has zero intellectual underpinnings in the conservative movement ... He’s hostile to free trade, hiked sales and grocery taxes, backed sales taxes on Internet purchases, and presided over state spending going up more than twice the inflation rate.”
Paul Pressler, former Texas judge and conservative member of the Southern Baptist Convention (of which Huckabee is a minister and former head):
“I know of no conservative he appointed while he headed the Arkansas Baptist Convention.”
Conservative Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund:
“Mr. Huckabee was the only GOP candidate to refuse to endorse President Bush’s veto of the Democrats’ bill to vastly expand the Schip health-care program. Only he and John McCain have endorsed the discredited cap-and-trade system to limit global-warming emissions that has proved a fiasco in Europe.”
This shows there is a lot of work to do to accomplish what has to be done. It isn’t a simple fix as I wish it were. I had forgotten about the judge, thanks for the reminder.
