They realize they have reached critical mass, and they can prey upon The Man without fear of reprisal - all they have to do is play the race card and they walk.

That's simply not true. These punks are looking at aggravated assault, possibly attempted murder, with or without a hate crimes charge. If the state proves its case, they will not walk in the free sunshine again for decades, if ever.

It's amazing to me how on one side, folks are screaming because minorities get away with murder every day and twice on Sunday. In the other ear, I hear people shouting because minorities are disproportionately convicted of murder. Everyone is put upon. Everyone is a victim.

Pre-emptively, I'll say forget OJ. He had unlimited funds to hire experts to muddy the waters. His is not a typical case. There's an old adage among lawyers: "interesting cases make bad law."

Minorities who commit crimes against whites are more often convicted, and serve more time, than whites who commit crimes against minorities. I'm not going to get into the endless tangle over whether minorities commit more crime, which they certainly do, or whether they're more distrusted by juries, which they certainly are. But the notion that the "race card" is a free pass is absurd, and is based on a few high-profile cases lie OJ and Michael Jackson. 99% of the time, it goes the other way.

Check out Justice Overruled by Judge Burton Katz. He says that while the OJ verdict became famous, in fact it was already routine by 1995 for "urban" juries to let black thugs off the hook-particularly when they've victimized a nonblack. This does not disprove overall or nationally the higher conviction rates for blacks who victimize whites-but those who do in urban areas are more likely to walk than whites who attack other whites, etc. The section about stupid/bigoted juries is only one very small section of the book, which is pretty wide ranging in the issues it discusses.
