Where are yo seeing this?
There is no grenade launcher on the rifle in the pic at the originating website.

There are 30 rd bannana clips made for the SKS but the one in the pics has the original 10 rd magazine.

to change over between the two different configurations requires completely disassembling and reassembling the rifle.

Why would the authority’s disassemble the rifle and reassemble it into the less deadly 10 round version for the photos? and where did they get the 10 round original fixed magazine?

If you look at the end of the barrel you can see the larger end.. thats the grenade launcher. The yugo SKSs were imported with them and since they fall under the C&R (Curio and relic) they are legal to import in that manner.

Ive worked on my share of these yugos for friends.. and I am pretty sure thats a yugo.. they flooded the market with them a few years ago.. so lots of new SKS owners have that type.

Take a look at the picture I blew up from the original, I drew an arrow to the area that is considered the "grenade launcher" on these models.. Normal SKSs dont have that extended bit of tube there.

Heck.. some guys get inert grenades and use blanks to launch them a few hundred yards using these rifles.
