I made it very clear that is not the rifle in question

Forget that. The story says he drove to the mall in an SUV!

Since his juvenile court history is not available, educated guesses are all anybody has but ... knowing he was in treatment centers and institutions for 4 years, does nybody doubt he was given psycho-active drugs as part of his treatment ?

Fyi, I’m in Omaha, a mile from the mall and Von Maur is the store I shop at. It is a very nice clothing store. The report of the 30 round magazines came from Omaha police chief Thomas Warren. In the first press conf he said that the rifle was an SKS AK47 with two 30 round magazines taped together. That’s where that report came from.

I read it as an indictment of so-called psychiatric “treatment” and the breakdown in his family life at a young age.

This boy’s family failed him at an early age, the school system failed him, and so did every institution with which he had contact.

The combination of this kid’s issues and the lack of an effective adult in his life were the catalysts to this shooting.

The sight post in that pic looks like an AK due to its height.
I cant tell if thats a 30 rd mag or a shadow.

the pic in the original article is clearly a chinese SKS

This is the (cough) 'AK-47 Assault Rifle with 30 round "clip"' both the DBM and THE POLICE said the perp used...

Funny thing is, it AIN'T an AK-47 and it doesn't have a 30 round magazine.

From the spike bayonet I think its Chinese ('Chinese Type 56s were in production from 1956-71. Rifles serial number 9,000,000 (1965) and higher had the spike bayonet') and it has the standard 10 round internal magazine.

So chalk up one more LIE for the Drive By Media, but you' think and hope the Cops would know better. All I heard from them on TV (the Chief I believe) was 'AK-47 Assault Rifle'.

That is exactly what Chief Warren stated in his first presser...”chinese SKS AK47 type rifle”...that’s not necessarily a word for word translation of his quote but close.

So, not only was it not an "Assault Rifle", which would have to be full auto or burst fire capable, it was not even an "assault weapon" as defined by the now expired federal Assault Weapons Ban". It was just an intermediate power semi-automatic rifle, suitable for deer hunting or defending su casa o su persona

Not that it matters, to the gun graboids, or the meaning of "arms" in the second amendment. The former want to grab all types guns, the latter protects them all, and more.

That front sight looks too tall for an SKS. And the weapon itself is too tall to be an SKS. No bayonet or lug to be seen either.

Note the 30 round mags taped together. You can buy 30 round mags for the SKS, but I don’t believe they’re easy to swap where one would tape two mags together. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

IMO, he seems to be using an AK semi-auto clone, probably an AWB-compliant version since there’s no lug. I think the pictures in the news story were probably stock photos of an SKS, not the actual weapon.

They are a pain in the ass to swap and no one in their right mind would use such a configuration

I dont see a clear picture of 2 30 rd clips taped together anywhere on this thread

Bottom line is, why are the police stating the weapon was an SKS despite mall security tapes showing the shooter with an AK? Surely the police know the difference?

Or are we misinterpreting the video captures?

I was attempting humor, directed at media/leftists for being sexist

I agree with you.
However the shooter solved the problem, offed himself

Note the spike bayonet. The Yugo has a blade bayonet and a nato grenade launcher at the end of the muzzle

I think that's one of those bipods that mount on the bayonet lug of the SKS. And there is clearly something on the muzzle, which my Chinese SKS does not have.

The article clearly points out they are pictures of the actual firearm used.......an SKS...
