“If it makes you feel better to think you have solved some great mystery or uncovered some sort of weakness that sets him apart from the rest when, for all intents and purposes, his position is the same as President Bush’s and all the other top-tier candidates then so be it.” My intention is to understand the candidate’s position clearly. He approves of killing human embryos for research purposes. He has also indicated that a ban on killing embryos for research should be opposed. I appreciate your conceding this to be the case. I do not, however, appreciate being told by a committed supporter of Mr. Romney that he opposes the killing of embryos, when he in fact approves of it. See post 145, for example which states: “He specifically mentions that this “moral and ethical research” will NOT involve the killing of embryos for research.” Nor do I appreciate being told that my facts were erroneous when I had correctly represented Mr. Romney’s position on this issue. The implication that I have been dishonest was also completely uncalled for.
To represent Mr. Romney’s views as other that he himself has done is a disservice to Mr. Romney and to his campaign.
This is not my interest at this time, but I will respond to your comments comparing Mr. Romney and the other candidates for the Republican nomination and to the President.
“...for all intents and purposes, his position is the same as President Bush’s and all the other top-tier candidates...”
This statement is false.

Come on, folks. Don’t be too hard on Romney. After all he’s a new convert to the Pro-life position. You can’t expect his moral compass to point to true north over night. /sarc

Is Fred willing to work to ban it?
And where does Fred stand on the HLA?

I've wondered and wondered about the "pro-life Christians" who are willing to discard embryos left and right, in the name of "fertility."
Amazing.

Talk is cheap. Has he asked President Bush why he hasn't moved to ban it then? Has he gone on record saying he would ban it? What actions has he taken? If one doesn't ban it then the parents are free to choose to dispose of their embryos in any manner they wish. Hence, without support for a ban, everyone is efffectively pro-choice as to fertility clinic embryo research.
