Have you tried watching The First 48 on A&E on Thursdays (not counting repeats)? It's about homicide detectives: good show.

I don’t have cable.

I used to watch quite a bit of t.v. but then I started noticing that the bad guy almost always a Vietnam Veteran, gun owner/ collector, or a fundamentalist christian. Then i stopped.
