Arkansas clemencies outpace other states

If you're wondering how Gov. Huckabee's hundreds of clemencies compare with neighboring states, get ready for a shocker.

___ Huckabee leads the pack.

___ He has issued more commutations and pardons than all of the six neighboring states combined.

(snip)

Governors seldom reduce sentences in other states – and almost never for murderers serving life without parole or for rapists or for habitual drunk drivers, while in Arkansas it's a regular habit with Huckabee.

___ Other governors use their clemency power only rarely, while Huckabee has made it routine. As we've told you before, he has issued more than 700 pardons and commutations during his eight years in office – more than 137 this year alone – and more than his three predecessors combined.

___ Here are the figures for neighboring states since 1996, when Huckabee took office (and keep in mind the population of these states is nearly 20 times ours):
___ >> Louisiana – 213.
___ >> Mississippi – 24.
___ >> Missouri – 79.
___ >> Oklahoma – 178.
___ >> Tennessee – 32.
___ >> Texas – 98 (in-cludes 36 inmates released because they were convicted on drug charges with planted evidence).
___ Total: 624 vs. Huckabee's 703.

>> How many times in a “face to face” setting do you respond to someone’s statement of facts by stating “bovine excrement”.

That’s easy! I NEVER use “bovine excrement” to respond to a clear statement of fact.

However, I frequently call BS when confronted with same — even face to face. It depends on the situation.

Clearly, you’re too ignorant and lazy to participate in a real debate. Buh-bye.

I posted the information about Dumond being railroaded, because I believe that there is enough information out there to defend Huckabee in this one case based on the circumstances around Dumond’s arrest and conviction. [That is not to say that I would defend the large number of clemencies granted, but this whole can of worms came to a boil, to mix metaphors, due to the Dumond case.]

However, Huckabee chose to distance himself from Dumond’s release by claiming he had nothing to do with it. The other people involved are not backing him on this according to the posted article. It’s as if Huckabee got caught like a deer in the headlights and decided to lie his way out.

It’s always interesting to see how people behave under pressure. Given that he appeared to have a better defense than lying, it says lots about his character.

BTW, it’s interesting that those who want to tear down Huckabee over this Dumond release don’t bother to mention the castration thing. A Google search with “dumond castration” brings up quite a few links about the case including this recent FR link:

Of course, since Bill Clinton had ignored his own parole board over the issue and since Clinton was related to the victim, it was all over FR several years ago.
