Please join us. Support the troops and be a part of our peaceful counter-protest to Code Pink.
Don't let the troops think that regular Americans are too busy to spend a few hours standing up for the troops.
Being there with us in spirit is great, but we need people to hold the MOAB (Mother of all banners), other signs, and flags. Maybe you can't come every week, but please make it your patriotic duty to join us at least once in the near future.
Fridays, 6:30 to 9:30 pm Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave., at Elder St., NW, Washington, DC
On street parking is usually easy to find and there is a parking lot at the corner of Georgia and Elder. Location is about 6 or 7 blocks from Takoma metro station and is walkable, but it is best if you get a ride.
If you want a ride, FReepmail trooprally, preferably with your cell phone number, as far in advance as possible. If you don't make contact sufficiently in advance, it may be too late to coordinate a Metro ride.
DC Chapter ping!
FReepmail me to get on or off the list.
Does FR have any activities, or thoughts about anything to do to help the soldiers suffering from PTSD. My husband, a Korean combat vet’s life was seriously impacted by unhelped PTSD, and I hope that we could do something to help the soldiers and their families from the impact of our latest war. I also have a son who has served in Iraq—1990-1991—and in Afghanistan—2006.
‘Pod,
Did you get the ping at #2?
Heard that pings to the massive DC Chapter ping list missed you? Is it working now?
ANGELWOOD!!!!!!!
Thanks for the eloquent report.
Back from the dead - I thought you were talking about the whole lot better number of FReepers, Lurkers and guests that came out as compared to the previous week, 3 times more.
And the CRs said they'll be out this week also, but dressed a lot warmer. Great bunch of people.
Thanks for posting a “most excellent” thread. I know the time it takes to write AARs.
[Mr] T
Nice report and thanks for giving him that ride.
Taxman Bravo Zulu!
I’m getting the dreaded red x on pics. Had to go to the pic files to see them. Otherwise, great report. Thanks.
Being outside of WR was quite different that our Fresno rally since we are on a busy street corner instead of the main gate of an Army hospital. I was unprepared for the response from the military guys and gals that were walking by the rally. They were constantly offering us bottled water or snacks. Here we are trying to give them just a little emotional support, and yet they were trying to once again give something above and beyond the call of duty. What an amazing group of people.
OUR MILITARY SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN ARE THE BEST !!!!
While in DC, I was stranded by the Viet Nam Memorial after dark, when my tour bus did not come by. Who came to my rescue? Three servicemen from Walter Reed! They insisted that it wasn't safe for me to stay there by myself, so they started to walk me to a Metro bus stop, when one of the tour buses appeared. They stayed with me until I was safely on the tour bus.
Morning bump.
Another answer might be,"Do you ask that of every policeman you ever see, too?"
Hi...You know, over at Blackfive.net, if you click on the November Archives on the right, you will find a wonderful PTSD column. it may or may not help you, but it is a great read.
What an amazing story about David—you’re right; he is a true hero.
Did Code Pink show up, or are they still in Pakistan (hee, hee)?
He said that he wanted to rejoin his unit, get back to his job.
Its good to hear. This attitude will never be understood by our leftists. Its been a common attitude among soldiers for a very long time.
Back during a winter when the moonbats had the Main Gate side of the street, a young soldier and his wife had a very hard time getting a cab. And as they shivered, the moonbats who "care" ignored them.
I asked where they were trying to go and it was the Wheaton Mall. I drove them and came back for the remainder of the FReep.
To Code Pink, Veterans For Peace, Military Families Speak Out and OPEIU Local 2, I say this most sincerely about your phony claims of supporting the troops, ROT IN HELL.
The Pinkos made sure the French Canadian TV crew didn’t get away from the Main Gate of Walter Reed without the Pinkos making the point that we needed to bring our troops home from Iraq because they are the terrorists.
What an amazing guy; took a round to the head, his heart stopped, lived through it, spent a few months at Walter Reed, now wants to go BACK to Iraq.
We certainly have a special breed.
FReepmail me to be added to / deleted from this once-weekly ping list.
