For example how many people know what LDS Eschatology entails?

From Dictionary.com: es·cha·tol·o·gy –noun Theology. 1. any system of doctrines concerning last, or final, matters, as death, the Judgment, the future state, etc. 2. the branch of theology dealing with such matters.

Thanks for the word of the day. I didn't know that one.

There will be many who will share their opinions about LDS doctrine from a non-LDS (or anti-LDS) perspective. If you have basic questions about Mormon beliefs, Mormon.org offers the ability to research or ask a Mormon directly about their beliefs by email or anonymous online chat.

For more specific doctrinal questions, see the searchable LDS Scriptures or Conference Reports.

The recent annual LDS Christmas Devotional, is also revealing about the LDS understanding of the role of Christ. You can listen here or watch here.

BTW, My current preference is #1: Hunter, #2: Thompson, #3: Romney. In my opinion, these are the only candidates who are right on "most" of the important issues.

“I have visited many of the magnificent cathedrals in Europe. They are so inspired ... so grand ... so empty. Raised up over generations, long ago, so many of the cathedrals now stand as the postcard backdrop to societies just too busy or too ‘enlightened’ to venture inside and kneel in prayer. The establishment of state religions in Europe did no favor to Europe’s churches. And though you will find many people of strong faith there, the churches themselves seem to be withering away.”

Magnificent.

"I suggest that people learn from the source what LDS doctrine really is."

Yes, of course that is good also as a starting point. But just as if one wants to learn about about Calvinism, he should also study Arminianism, to get an alternative view. Dr Walter Martin, IMO offers a good alternative view of the LDS, from an orthodox position.

Dont be sheeple people, study and think for yourself.

It’s a good speech, no doubt about it. Will it be enough to propel him to the nomination?

The problem is that God doesn’t bless people “no matter what there religious beliefs are.”

What if you belive in ditchin’ your children like Buddha?
Or being a polygamous child molestor like Muhammed?
Or as polygamous murderer like Joseph smith?
Do really assume God is going to bless all that?

What God are you talking about anyway?

I agree with caisson71 (post 19) that “all the Republican candidates, in spite of their shortcomings, are far better than anything the Dims have to offer.” And I have the same ranking of candidates as esarlls3 (post 41). After that it tails off so fast that I don’t really have a “fav five.” I suppose we could have fun with the Dems and draft Cheney. And John Ashcroft certainly has the credentials :)

I think Mitt gave a phenomenal speech. I think it is a real mistake to hold his religion against him. I understand why some people sometimes ask if this is the real Mitt Romney. But let’s give him his proper due. In this campaign he has often said the right things and said them well. I hope this speech will be remembered for a long time, regardless of whatever else happens.

This is the best speech of the political season so far. A home run and a clear testament to a man who profoundly understands the right formula for leading the country.

Wow. Just Wow!!! Whether, or not, Mr. Romney’s profession of faith assuages the fears of those who fear other faiths or denominations, it is a profession of my faith. Mitt Romney has said it all as far as I’m concerned. I’m so proud to be an American today — well, every day, but today, ESPECIALLY. Thanks for saying what needed to be said — not as far as Mr. Romney’s faith is concerned, but as far as what it means to be an American. Amen, Mitt, and all God’s children should say, “Amen.”

AMEN!

You should trust that he will govern as he runs because he has good cahracter and has done that before in office. IMHO, he is more trustworthy than most of the other candidates.

And the RINO charge is overstated. He has had to navigate in a liberal state, but has a good fiscal conservative record, has been consistently against gay marriage, and has a personal life of real conservative-of-the-heart family values.

The problem is that God doesn’t bless people “no matter what there religious beliefs are.”

Has God Blessed America?

Is America a land of religious liberty and different faiths?

Can you not see that GOP_Lady is similarly saying "God Bless America" for *all* of us? Or do you say "God Bless Lutheran America" and leave the rest out of it?

Such an expression is not affirming any doctrine but appealling to God's grace.

bubba has been held in contempt/impeached (just like our former POTUS) — he’s been banned. I just shook my head looking at his post.

“BTW, My current preference is #1: Hunter, #2: Thompson, #3: Romney. In my opinion, these are the only candidates who are right on “most” of the important issues.”

I agree. I like all three.

But as of this most excellent speech, I am finally putting Romney firmly in my #1 seed spot after months of toying with all three. They are all good men, but we need a candidate who can handle Hillary and tackle the job of President.

Even if Thompson and Hunter are a bit more conservative, Romney is conservative enough on fiscal, social and foreign policy. And as of this fantastic speech, something has clicked:

THIS MAN CAN BE PRESIDENT AND AMERICA WILL BE ALRIGHT.

Romney for President.

I don’t usually grab the kleenex when listening to a speech. I did today.

I happened to hear it live and I agree. Delivered with conviction and an even, presidential temperament (passionate without appearing overly so). I agree with you. Now as to whether I would vote for the gubernatorial candidate . . .
