Romney takes leap of faith with religion speech
CNN ^ | December 6, 2007 | Staff

(CNN) -- White House hopeful Mitt Romney said religious liberty "is fundamental to America's greatness," in his Thursday address on faith in America.

..."There are some who may feel that religion is not a matter to be seriously considered in the context of the weighty threats that face us. If so, they are at odds with the nation's founders," Romney said.

"Freedom requires religion just as religion requires freedom. Freedom opens the windows of the soul so that man can discover his most profound beliefs and commune with God. Freedom and religion endure together, or perish alone," he said.

..."If I am fortunate to become your president, I will serve no one religion, no one group, no one cause, and no one interest. A president must serve only the common cause of the people of the United States," he said.

So has Thompson. He was pro-choice when he first ran for office too.

Thompson was never "pro-choice" and he has never said that Row was a correct decision. Romney has.

Why do millions stay? Because the Church is true.

Ya think, Rush might get on board with Mitt?!

No. Rush has already stated he isn't fooled by him.

“This speech does nothing to change the fact that he is pro-abortion,pro-homosexual marriage, and a socialist when it comes to health care.” It’s apparent you don’t know Mitt Romney.

Mitt Romney now that he needs conservative votes, or Mitt Romney when he needed the liberal votes? Or what about Mitt Romney of the general election when he needs the liberal votes again?

Oh and even the new, improved conservative version of Mitt Romney touts socialized medicine, so what does that tell you?

If Mormonism was true, why have there been so many changes to the Book of Mormon; and why are more and more members leaving the Mormon church? If Mormonism was true, why don't Mormon missionaries tell prospects that they can become gods and the God was once a man?

Seems pretty clear to me that Mitt is saying the Muslim’s ‘commitment to frequent prayer’ is something he would like to see more of in his own faith. I have no problem with that, I should probably pray more than I do.

We have no problem with calling Christ God,

Is Christ uniquely God in a way that no other human will ever be?

...and we believe that Christ was begotten of the Father in the beginning as a spirit

Mormonism parts ways with me significantly here; I don't think Christ was "begotten" at all - he is eternal.

Like I said before, I can support Romney, but I don't confuse that with saying that Mormonism is A-OK with me.

You're in denial.

I'm with you. Mormonism isn't "A-Ok" with me either (it's a bizarre and egregious heresy), but I don't think it's relevant to the office of the presidency.

“Is Christ uniquely God in a way that no other human will ever be?”

Christ was sinless had had power over death so he needed no Savior to die for him to enable his exaltation. We however need his atonement to become (by grace) as he is by nature.

“I don’t think Christ was “begotten” at all - he is eternal.”

John 3: 16, 18
16 ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
• • •
18 ¶ He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Here’s more documentation about Thompson’s pro-choice past:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-rlc/1815999/posts

Not that I hold it against him. He’s changed his mind; that’s great. I welcome converts.

But what ticks me off is that he’s not up front about it. There’s something seriously wrong about a guy who can’t admit he was wrong.

And what ticks me off even more is how so many Thompson supporters willfully blind themselves to their guy’s past, while at the same time blast Mitt for his past.

“If Mormonism was true, why have there been so many changes to the Book of Mormon;”

Like breaking it up into chapters and verses, numbering the verses, standardizing the spelling, and other changes NONE of which alter any doctrine.

“and why are more and more members leaving the Mormon church”

The membership of the church is GROWING, we just passed 13 million worldwide. Of course, as the church as a whole grows, that small percentage that leave will be larger in number, but still about the same percentage.

“why don’t Mormon missionaries tell prospects that they can become gods and the God was once a man?”

We cover that, especially the part where God was once a man called Jesus Christ.

Google is your friend

Well, maybe not for Mormons who want to hide the truth about Mormonism.

First of all, no where in that answer does Thompson say he is pro-choice or in favor of Roe. Secondly, Thompson has a reliable and unflappable RECORD of consistently pro-life votes. That is why he has gotten the endorsement of the NRLC and various state pro-life organizations. In contrast, Romney has explicitly demonstrated his disregard for life by being pro-choice, but (more importantly) his disregard for the constitution in stating that abortion is a constitutionally protected right.

Those changes are NOT doctrine changes or of the CORE of the Restored Gospel!
