Huckabee's "Dukakis Problem" (Advocated the release of a rapist)
YouTube ^ | 12/05/2007 | Virginia Virtucon

Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's advocacy for the release of convicted rapist Wayne DuMond and DuMond's subsequent rapes and murders following his release should give every Republican pause before they vote for a candidate with a Mike Dukakis-problem.

Huckabee is wrong on crime, wrong on taxes and wrong on immigration.

Interesting to note:

Democrats are really hammering this whole “parole” issue now too.

Seems like lots, and lots, of people are worried about Mike Huckabee all of a sudden.

Let’s remember, as democrats complain:

“The parole board was made up entirely of Democrats appointed by Democrat Governors Bill Clinton and Jim Guy Tucker (who was later convicted on federal charges and removed from office). Not one member of the board was appointed by Huckabee.”

This is just the nail in the coffin. I have many other issues with Huckabee.

Good YouTube ad.

However, this one, which was one of the YouTube “related videos”, is FAR more damning of the POS Huckabee...

Not his only problem, but it will hasten his heading for the exit door.

This party could very well nominate, Huckabee, McCain, Romney, or Rudy. Hillary is a candidate that would be crushed, by a conservative candidate. It wouldn’t even be a race. And yet we’re going to nominate a liberal. Shame on us.

As do I. What is your point?

Are you insinuating that only Dukakabee can beat her?

If we nominate Huckabee, you can be sure that ads much worse than this will be used by the Dems against him. It will make the Willie Horton ads look like a walk in the park. Plus if Hillary! is their nominee, she gets a two-fer out of this. (1.) She’s a woman who will condemn Huckabee for being soft on a rapist (ironic I know given Juanita B. et al.) and she will be able to rile up a sizeable portion of the female vote against Huckabee based upon this (rightly so I might add). (2.) One of the victims is a distant relative of Bill’s, so she can claim a familial tie to a victim even if she has never met her.

As do I, which is why I would vote for Huck in the general (but not in the primary), even though I think he’s the least electable. Think about it this way: From the general electorate’s perspective, he’s got all of Bush’s negative traits and few of his good ones.

LOL.

Just had a mental image, of Huckabee in a tank.

Thanks for that one.

Gotta go. Let’s just not tear down our own candidates too quick, is my point.

(imagining Huckabee in a big helmet, looking at the camera...)

I’m leaving the gop and becoming an independent if we nominate a liberal for president. I’ll still vote for the gop liberal over hillary because she’d be far worse for the nation. But I will not be part of a liberal, left-wing organization anymore.

I admire Chuck Norris a lot.

However, I think Norris, as well as most of Huckabee’s supporters, has a bit of tunnel vision with regards to Huck. They see a good Christian man who is strong on abortion and guns and think he’s therefore perfect, failing to realize that many of his other policies are a major threat to the safety and sovereignty of our nation, and the health of our economy.

Fred Thompson is more well-rounded, if people would just open their eyes.

Chuck needs to be careful what he says:

Board chair Brownlee [2005 note: Brownless has since been reappointed to the Board by Huckabee] personally interviewed Dumond in prison and set in motion the reconsideration of the board’s August 1996 vote to refuse Dumond parole. Normally, inmates must wait a year after a decision for a new hearing. Thanks to Brownlee’s efforts, Dumond was granted a new parole hearing Jan. 16, 1997, just six weeks after his request for reconsideration. This time, the board voted to parole. Brownlee later was reappointed to the board by Huckabee.

The whole story, complete with witnesses can be found at:

I am not going to bash Mike about dumond, conventional wisdom was that wayne was framed by the clintons. He has made other releases that werent so great, but they havent killed anyone ....yet.

At first I thought DuMond was framed by the Clintons as well. Then I heard about how he had a prior history of sexual assualt and had been involved in a murder as well. Once I heard that DuMond was convicted in a rape and murder after his parole and was a suspect in a second rape and murder as well, that sealed the deal for me.
