Cause vs. effect. What came first the Chicken or the Egg?

I tend to think that women who already have substance abuse problems and or suffer from depression and serious self esteem issues are probably more likely to engage in dangerous, indiscriminate and unprotected sex with undesirable partners and they are more likely to seek an abortion than women who do not have these problems and are in healthy and stable relationships.

I don’t think abortion causes women to turn to drugs and alcohol but rather women who are addicted and already engaged in self destructive behaviors are more likely to have abortions.

Abortion can and does cause long term psychological effects but that doesn’t necessarily cause alcoholism or drug addiction. And not all women who suffer from alcoholism or drug addiction have had abortions.
