I agreed with Bush & Rove at the time. I thought that Schaffer was a stellar person but a poor candidate. Now I realize that I underestimated him.

And they overestimated Coors.
He was a first time candidate and it showed. He should have started smaller, either the House or city council or something.

Tom Coburn was not their choice.
