The French and their gun laws
Washington Times ^ | December 5, 2007 | Paul Belien

On Sunday evening Nov. 25 in Villiers-le-Bel, an immigrant suburb to the north of Paris, two youths steal a motorbike and go joyriding. They collide at high speed with a police vehicle that just happens to be passing by. The two youths die on the spot. Villiers-le-Bel is one of France's 751 "zones urbaines sensibles" (sensitive urban areas). These are no-go zones where radical Muslims hold sway. Almost 5 million people, or 8 percent of the French population, live in such zones. In May, Nicolas Sarkozy won the French presidential elections with the promise that he was going to reclaim them for the republic.

So far the "lost territories" have not been reclaimed. Following the death of the two boys, youths went on the rampage in Villiers-le-Bel. They blamed the two policemen in the vehicle for "murdering" the boys "because the police should not have been there." During three nights of rioting, several police stations, schools and shops were burned to the ground. When the authorities sent in the police, almost 200 policemen got injured — many of them by guns.

"We were attacked from all sides by youths armed with hunting rifles," one of the officers said. "The kids were shooting at us. I've never seen anything like it. It was like in a movie."...

Meanwhile, a horror movie was taking place just around the corner. ....

There is no Second Amendment in Europe. Even European politicians from the so-called "right," like Sarkozy, are horrified at the suggestion that citizens should be allowed to protect themselves against criminals....

The result is that in France only the criminals are armed, while decent citizens, even those as brave as Anne-Lorraine, perish.

Last year, Mr. Sarkozy told French radio: "Security is the responsibility of the state. I am against the private ownership of firearms. If you are assaulted by an armed burglar, he will use his weapon more effectively than you anyway, so you are risking your life."

You just needed a little more to that quote. Ah yes, once a Frenchman always a Frenchman.

The lesson provided by the Brits begging Americans to send firearms to them as private individuals during WWII has faded into the oblivion of history....

>>If you are assaulted by an armed burglar, he will use his weapon more effectively than you<<

Sadly, according to recent FBI studies there is a lot of truth in that, especially when compared to the usual police recurrent training - 50 rounds every 6 months. Scumbags, not having to attend sensitivity classes and the like, have a lot more time to practice with a gun.

And our fellow law abiding 2nd Amendment supporters? In our CCW (concealed carry) classes, 95% of the students will get the license, buy a box of cartridges, then stick them both in the nightstand or the glovebox and forget about practicing. Dumb.

With relatively inexpensive ammo (for example, .40 S&W is $21./box of 100 at Wally Mart) there is no excuse not to be more proficient than your local depraved (lefties read “deprived”)sociopath. You should get out to the range every 4-6 weeks. Don’t use bullseye targets - use a vertical 8-1/2 x 11” paper, 4’ to 5’ off the ground, and no further away than 21’ (Google up “Tueller Drill” for an explanation).

It was Leninist dogma and hence Liberal belief that the criminal classes are social allies of the Left, representatives of the repressed and oppressed classes and , handily, useful for intimidating the bourgeoisie- the middle class.
::::::::
Most Americans have no clue as to how much our “left” has patterned its oppressive, power-centric agenda after the arch Communists of history.

If you want to maintain a population of sheep, it’s imperative you keep the pen gate closed. Letting wolves in because they act oppressed and bedraggled is an unsustainable policy.
