NEW YORK -- Norman Hsu, a Democratic fundraiser and supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton, was indicted Tuesday for allegedly orchestrating a massive $60 million fraud scheme and making illegal campaign contributions.
Federal prosecutors in New York said as part of the scam, Hsu personally stole $20 million from investors.
Hsu, 56, is currently in custody in California on unrelated fraud charges. The FBI says from 2000 through 2007, Hsu duped investors to invest millions in his Next Components Inc. Hsu then allegedly pressured investors to make campaign contributions, saying those donations would help him in securing business. In some cases, prosecutors said, Hsu reimbursed contributors up to $25,000 each for making contributions.
Investigators are looking at numerous large donations allegedly donated by working class families to Democratic candidates, including Clinton (D-N.Y.). Prosecutors said investigators believe those families and addresses were a front for Hsu to get around campaign limits. Investigators said part of Hsu's motive was to raise his personal profile and hobnob with political leaders and celebrities.
The Clinton campaign has not been accused of any wrongdoing, although some watchdog groups have said the campaign should do a better job of screening donors.
Hsu faces a 15-count indictment that includes mail fraud, wire fraud and violations of the Federal Election Campaign Act, charges which carry a maximum of 20 years in prison. He is expected to be flown back to New York in several weeks to be arraigned on the federal charges.
I hope if this guy does go to jail, it will be a real jail, and not one of those country club Federal prisons.
obviously this is a politically motivated smear tactic by the Bush administration.
And clintoon with triple-coated teflon just knowingly smiles and thinks “I won’t be pinned down on this one either.”
Note to Norma:
Do not eat ANY food from gift packages from NY or Washington D.C.
I would not listen to Gore about anything scientific.
I would not listen to Kerry about anything Vietnam.
I would not listen to Clinton about anything period.
Nice little hint for Hillary to have someone "tamper" with the engine.
I want to see some documentation that Hillary! returned the tainted money.
Seriously.
The last time Hitlery got negitive press, she had a staff member contrive the ‘Hostage’ situation in New Hampshire. What is she going to do now? Next week? The week after that?
Wow. I thought I’d see headlines that Hsu was indicted, or that a “Democratic Fundraiser” was indicted.
But I never thought I’d see a headline like this, with hillary’s name right up their next to the word “indicted.”
The press really seems to be losing their fear of offending her. The wall is cracking.
Where he serves his time will depend on his evaluation. If he is not determined to be an escape risk of a violent person, he will serve his time in minimum security.
This is the only thing that might stick to the x42's ... a clear, believable finger pointing dead into either x42's mouth.
Especially the bwitch needs to be shut down for any presidential bid.
Who cares if the media doesn't report it ... or spins it ... a charge MUST stick and be prosecuted.
I doubt it,he dont look like a hob-nobber. The other PART is he just like cash, dirty cash.
Second note to Norman:
Do Not order the FISH meal on the plane!!!
Of course not, the prosecutors and judges are Democrats.
Don’t you just see a pardon if she is elected?
Dont you just see a pardon if she is elected?
For BOTH of them? Who would put it past a Clinton to try to pardon themselves.
This is a GREAT issue to run against Hillary on, either as a Dem or Rep. Question for the BWITCH:
"Hillary, one of your fundraisers has been indicted. In light of the scandals that plagued your husband's use of pardons, will you pledge right now that, if President, you will not pardon Hsu, or and other of your fundraisers that may be indicted?" (Skuggs)
Whoa! Good on NBC for slamming The Hildabeast’s name in the headline along with the word “indicted.” Hope all the folks at NBC have their insurance premiums up to date :)
