My guess is that McDermott will have trouble finding someone to pay this tab. Most folks want their money going to re-election campaigns, and not law bills or fines. Being a democrat...he’ll try to have a dinner or two in Seattle and get some local car dealers to cough up $500k...but I’m betting he barely gets $150k from state players, and even nationally....he won’t find more than $100k probably. He’ll have to find this cash with some illegal corrupt actions.
