"That it sank during what appears to have been the most routine of circumstances – cruising through young pack ice in mild weather – has experts scratching their heads."

Yeah, no kidding—unsinkable cruise ship hits iceberg and goes to the bottom? Who could have possibly seen that coming?

Sinking might be a refreshing change from crashing.

maybe they can get James Cameron and Leonardo DiCaprio together for a hollyoood movie.. Cameron does his research well, Oh wait, they did that one, huh? ;-)

so I guess it was a submerged chunk of ice with some rocks on it and not a sub or an alien craft scaring them away from a secret underwater base. :-}

The iceberg – which one passenger described as being as big as the ship – reportedly struck the damaged starboard side.

In all the photos that I have seen I've not seen any huge iceberg. What were these people drinking?

How bad was the weather? For a ship to drift into an iceberg and sink as a result would imply severe weather. If it was calm that makes no sense at all even if that was the second collision.

Somebody do a count of Chinese subs... The Russians and the US would fess up to a damaged or missing sub.

I think the big one they banged into was after the initial bottom bangs on the submerged chuck of something they hit or so it sounds, they drifted into the big one or such after.... all the pics I have seen look like they are in a bunch of pack ice at the end,, not sure on the big one, I’ll keep an eye out for it..

"It makes you wonder if something else happened, because it really doesn't add up."

Must've been some of those planted explosives left over from WTC Building 7. George GWB knew was warned of this in advance, and let it happen to scare enviros...

...lots of lawsuits and many years of wrangling will likely ensue...

Sunk to collect insurance? I wonder if it was being operated with positive cash flow or if they were loosing money?

GAP Adventures website shows passengers on the MS Explorer overboard in a lifeboat. They can't say they were not forewarned!
