Those numbers are good because they are so recent but they didn’t segregate the numbers of Mormons versus non-Mormons. In fact, I have heard that there are so many Californians moving to Utah that it could change the political landscape of that state. (Places like Park City have become meccas for relocation.) However, the idea that 1.3 million have some sort of abuse problem in a state of only 2.4 million is quite debatable. Other internet charts are dated earlier but some claim that UT has the lowest rate of alcohol abuse and binge-drinking. Getting booze there is no easy quest. You can’t even get a mixed drink in a restaurant with more than 1 oz. of alcohol in it and some restaurants limit how many you can order.

Mitt Romney says that the second coming of Christ will NOT be in Missouri, but will be in Jerusalem.

Do you guys or anyone else have the fact on that?

I predicted Romney would have to do this. Most mormons on
these threads disagreed.

Unfortunately, Romney will NOT address mormonism. I predict
this will be another “Mitt Corporate-speak” speech that tries
to gloss over what he believes by appealing to:

History of America
“faith”
“personal belief”

It will refer to “God” without saying who Mitt (as a mormon)
believes God is. It will tell you nothing about what Mitt
really believes.

It won’t make the issue go away because he won’t address
the issues people are concerned about.

Certainly, none of the weirdest mormon stuff will make this
speech.

He does have to do the speech. While it looked like he would
win, he laid low and refused. Now that he’s spent millions
of dollars for second place in Iowa, he is forced to do the
deed.

I think Willard should have shut up while he’s ahead, if he really said what you wrote.

I fully expect the Mittster to believe that answering any questions about Mormonism are “beneath him.” He’ll throw the election to the Dems before he defends his faith. Just look to Arizona for proof of that.

OK. I will explain it to you, not that it is any of your business.

People in most religions make covenants with their God to live a righteous and faithful life. The often wear symbols to remind THEMSELVES of that covenant and also to remind them of spiritual truths.
Some Jewish people wear the yarmulke.
Protestant and Catholic ministers wear a special collar. When they preach they sometimes wear special clothing. Catholics sometimes wear a St. Christopher’s medal.
Some faiths don’t cut their hair.
Sikhs wear under garments, a symbolic sword, and a special bracelet. Some faiths wear a turban.

Mormons also make covenants to live a righteous and purposeful life. They also symbolize it as a reminder. If they choose to keep it to themselves and wear their reminder as an under garment, what is that to you?

That you would choose to mock it does not speak well of you.

...Mitt’s problem among other problems such as illegal immigration which he was for before he was against!

How so? Can you document this? What were his actions in support of illegal immigration?

Mitt Romney says that the second coming of Christ will NOT be in Missouri, but will be in Jerusalem.

From Mormon Heritage Association:

Link

Valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman near Gallatin Missouri.

A Meeting of monumental importance will take place here before the second coming. Millions will be in attendance from this world and others . The world will not know of it-nor will LDS Church members in general. Certainly the current Prophet will because he will be there. All prophets who have ever held keys will be there to report their stewardships and return their keys to Adam. Christ will then appear in glory and accept the keys from Adam in preparation for His reign as King of Kings during the Millennium. Satan will then be stripped of his power by action of the council. The cleansing of the earth will begin and the second coming will soon follow.

That's not the way I heard it. But I should keep the covenant to myself. I'm sure it's like the tall trees at all the graveyards, and the special secret places in the Temples. Oh, and the "Sealing" that only applies to women, like over at the Mosque.

My earlier point stands: Romney will fold up like a cheap suit in the face of Democrat attacks upon his religion, and we'll all suffer for it if we're foolish enough to nominate him for president.

I guess I'm just a mean, rotten Philistine for pointing it out, as you metion several times in your post.

“He’ll throw the election to the Dems before he defends his faith.”

Is that why he keeps denying that the second coming will be in Missouri?

In this video Romney denied that, and told George Stephanopoulos that it would be Jerusalem. In this video ABC says that the Mormon church said that yes, it will be in Missouri. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nnSe238oUM&mode=related&search=

I just noticed Zakeet is a FReeper who only posts articles but does not respond, and is among those who rely solely on the New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post etal, for their postings re Romney.

“What do you think, can you break the 2000 post mark with lies and half truths :)”

I’m gazing into my peepstone right now trying to find an answer - to the question you should have asked! Focusing, focusing! I had to look through my special Cat’s Eye Peepstone into my special PropellerTop Baseball Cap to find - the right question!

The real question is whether we should elect a president who has to dissimulate when asked about bizarre aspects of his faith. The truthful answer to that is No.

Speaking of lies and half truths, may I direct you to the Book of Mormon and the history of one Joseph Smith.

No, I mean that when he’s accused of favoring polygamy, he’ll run for the high grass. I know he doesn’t, and I know he’s the “One-wife” of the whole outfit, but I’m just telling you where this is headed. I know, I’ve seen it.

Cyber, I am a former mormon and am posting FACTUAL information on this thread. I believe that voters should be informed.

The kind of posts you are making here are possibly intended to be jokes, but what you have posted above is totally untrue.

Please stop.

“Protestant ministers wear a special collar”

Some of the smaller denominations do, the largest ones like the Southern Baptists and Baptists do not, just trivia, I know it doesn’t affect the point.
