I don't know about you naive hicks, but so-fiss-ti-kates like me and Mary Mapes find that when a source changes his story to account for inconsistencies and contradictory evidence, that just plain bolsters his credibility and furnishes further proof of the source's absolute troofiness and da man's determination to supress the TRUTH.

But for the internet this would have gone nowhere. The folks in the MSM have had a free ride for a long time. Ask Dan Rather. Now they actually have people who check their sources.

Dont’ think they like it. Much, much, harder to lie now.
