Planned Parenthood-Endorsed Book for Young Children too “Sexually Explicit” for Prisoners

WASHINGTON, November 28, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Excerpts from a sexually explicit book published for children aged eight to thirteen have been banned from Internet sites and from a Washington state prison for its “inappropriate content”. The book includes graphic depictions of genitalia, different forms of contraception, tampons and menstrual pads, and depicts people engaged in sex. It explains non-vaginal sex such as oral and anal sex. It has little to say about virginity (the word does not appear in the index), abstinence or chastity.

As a tool of the homosexual movement, it has been endorsed for its usefulness in that it describes homosexuality and bisexuality as simply other ways of being and goes on to explain that although some people feel hate towards homosexuals, such opinions are based on misinformation. The book attacks the religious objection to masturbation, saying, “Some religions call masturbation a sin, but masturbating cannot hurt you.” This is followed by illustrations and instructions.

The book is “It's Perfectly Normal: Changing Bodies, Growing Up, Sex, and Sexual Health”, was published in 1996 for children aged eight to thirteen and is under fire again from pro-life and pro-family advocates. It is strongly endorsed by Planned Parenthood as a means of teaching children that whatever sexual activity they would like to engage in is “perfectly normal”. It explains how to use contraception and endorses abortion and the medically discredited “safe sex” propaganda to avoid sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS. Its author, Robie Harris, was on Planned Parenthood’s national board of advocates.

“It's Perfectly Normal” was included in the American Library Association's list of “most frequently challenged books of 2005” for “homosexuality, nudity, sex education, religious viewpoint, abortion and being unsuited to age group.”  It ranked #15 in the Association’s list of “100 most frequently challenged books 1990-2000”.

“How can anyone claim that this book is appropriate for 10 year olds?” asked Jim Sedlak, vice-president for American Life League.

The comments follow revelations a few months ago that a Washington State prison rejected a letter that included images from the book on the grounds that they are too “sexually explicit” and “obscene” to be allowed in the prison.

Last week American Life League posted a video report about the book on several Internet sites. That report was removed from three of these sites vidilife.com, sharkle.com, and hi5.com for "inappropriate content," and flagged on metacafe.com for viewers over 18.

The video report asks, “If these images are too obscene for adult prisoners, why are they good for ten year-old children?”

“We are calling for libraries, schools and parents all across the country to take similar action," Sedlak concluded. "Planned Parenthood should be denied access to our children at all times. The material it promotes is totally inappropriate and could be harmful."

So mrhansen, is post #81 age appropriate for 10 year olds?

You’ve seen a page from the book you’ve been endorsing. What do you say now?

Yeah, I sure see a lot less pregnancies, STDs, cervical cancer (mind you I buried a teenager I knew recently who died from it), HIV/AIDS, since all the years of handing out condoms. /s Why do you think that is... it’s not like no one knows.

Voila! Now they want to immunize nine year olds with Gardisil... all these years, so much progress. But what the heck, those nine year olds will have sex anyway, might as well be prepared... nevermind the side effects or it not being fully tested. The little black book (thank you NAMBLA), had instructions on fisting... are there condoms for that? Is that okay to teach your kids? I wonder if they wanted to inject testes instead so there was no way to impregnate or some other archaic method... nevermind. How about parents teaching their kids? Can you sue the school that provided their version of sex ed for STDs, pregnancy, HIV, your child never being able to give birth after an abortion, PlanB or EC side effects, etc.?

I always thought teaching self respect (not spreading yourself around or using others, self-esteem, having love instead of rutting then on your way (whether one day, one week, months or a year later, come on, you use yourself up then expect Polly Purebred to get married to or ask a million times “Am I better than that guy, you aren’t cheating are you”).

I assume you’ve been a young man...

Now if you had one condom left, used it, had an opportunity for another round or two in the heat of the moment, would you refuse, drive miles to the store, or have sex anyway?

What’s the percentage of guys who don’t use condoms because ‘they don’t like how it feels’? They drill grown up thoughts into kids heads when they’re not mature enough to handle them.

Planned Parenthood’s condoms were next to last on the Consumer Reports list years back... These are the folks throwing condoms at kids, that should concern you.

Let’s not forget the cycle, weak condoms, pregnancy, abortion at one of their centers, birth control, HIV testing... oh, and family planning (meaning no family).

Who gives a darn what women have to say anyway right?

You’re not an idiot, go check their own stats, the CDC and others.

Why are girls still getting preganant?

Let me tell you something. There is an elementary school down the block from me, since one of the parents recognized me from the board of ed. she told me about a special hour with the kids third grade and fourth, Planned Parenthood would give the children a bag (including the book), parents got a notice to sign re: diversity, not health, and were told to send in 12 bucks. Somehow a few parents found out this book was the subject, I went to my library to check out the book (you have to know your subject), talked to the librarians (I go every day, so I knew them), re: what they thought, how ofter is it taken out, what the kids say, if anything about it. I’ve done a lot of things in my life... i’m no angel, but the embarrassment of reading that book on the childrens’ floor (I had to shield it... that bad). If you had come and read that book there, they would take you away as a molester or worse. No lie. Dad or not, whatever excuse.

All around not good.

Oh, I forgot the kicker, no parents were allowed to be there (but i’m sure you’ll say because the poor elementary students couldn’t talk about sex around their parents).

I still have a copy of the form they sent the parents somewhere... I should scan it.

BTW, where’s the other 90 books on the Challenged List?

Uhh...what? I doubt this book was advocating ‘pulling out’ as some sort of method for safe sex,

Here is a quote on that very thing from Planned Parenthood's website for Teens, www.teenwire.org:

"Pulling out before ejaculation reduces the risks even more, because there is less of a chance for ejaculate to spill out of the condom and into the vagina. Guys who do not pull out before ejaculation should be sure to pull out before their penises soften, after they ejaculate. They should hold the condom against the base of the penis while pulling out so the ejaculate doesn't spill."

It is for people like mrhansen and Timon that think it is ‘age appropriate’ for 10 year olds.

mrhansen,

A Troll called "Timon" was banned. Are you feeling left out? Perhaps you aren't trying hard enough.

And we're all eager to hear your responses to various facts about the book you are defending.

It's commendable that you have chosen this moment to demonstrate the wisdom of Proverbs 17:28 -

Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.

But it's really too late for that.

We are all eagerly awaiting your "wisdom."

Why would I be banned?

Nobody said anything about you being banned.

The real question is, why are you so reluctant to explain why you consider the images in posts 81 and 83 to be appropriate for pre-teens. Do you have an answer? Do you think they are appropriate?

Abortion, "gay marriage", etc.
It's almost refreshing to find these "movements" at their core
are always just "about the money".

Kids play with matches too, should we give them an illustrated list of the most flammable household articles?
