City taxpayers picked up tab for Judith Giuliani's visit to kin in Pennsylvania
New York Daily News ^ | 12-1-07 | MICHAEL SAUL and DAVID SALTONSTALL

n the fall of 2001, city cops chauffeured Rudy Giuliani's then-mistress, Judith Nathan, to her parents' Pennsylvania home 130 miles away on the taxpayers' dime.

Records show that city cops refueled at an ExxonMobil station down the road from Nathan's childhood home in Hazleton on Oct. 20, 2001, while Giuliani stayed behind in New York attending 9/11 funerals.

(snip)

The records show that - in addition to using City Hall funds to take Giuliani and Nathan to 11 secret trysts in the Hamptons, as has been previously reported - taxpayers were paying to ferry Nathan on long-distance trips without Giuliani, now a Republican contender for President.

I find it odd that you defend a man who for bilked the government by using city cops as drivers and errand boys for his bimbo, and who brought his bimbo into his home where his wife and children were living, and refused to stop doing it until his wife went to court.

Even using Clinton as the gold standard of presidential character, as you seem to do, Rudy falls short.

In my state’s primary I am divided between Fred and Duncan. I haven’t decided yet. In the primary I will vote for the Republican nominee, even if it’s Rudy. If Rudy is the nominee, and you can’t vote for him, you can vote for Hillary. Or stay home. Either way it will be a vote for Hillary.

I agree. I'm also not supporting Giuliani, but this is a stretch.
If you throw enough crap on a wall eventually something will stick.

now a Republican contender for President.

And what I'm reading into this, isn't just Giuliani, it's the (R).

In printed/posted stories about the Rats medias rarely mention party affiliation.

Just an observation.

I didn’t defend him. I just didn’t say he was worse than Clinton.

Because he’s not.

Cheating wise or bilking the taxpayer. His numbers pale next to Bill’s.

And let’s not forget the women who accused Clinton of rape and aggravated assault.

Unless you think they were all liars.

No, my contention is that your hatred for Giuliani whitewashes Donna Hannover’s behavior. I think that was probably a marriage made in hell. I would think she embarrassed him as much as he embarrassed her.

A bad marriage doesn’t excuse doing that to your wife and kids. I’ve seen plenty of men with bad wives who didn’t bring bimbos home.

I haven’t even mentioned the fact that his kids found out he was divorcing their mother (as did she) when he announced it at a press conference.

Now, even if his wife was the worst bitch in the world, nobody with any character would do those things to their kids.

There is no way to defend Rudy on the character issue.

There's no point in arguing which politician's personal life is a 'bigger train wreck', Slick or Giuiliani. When you compare the personal level to which they both stoop--you're looking at a level that shouldn't even be considered for dogcatcher--much less our nation's highest office.

The fact remains that they are BOTH the 'character equivalent' of 'moral trailer trash'--and BOTH should be kept as far as possible from the White House!

I’m waiting for your retort about Bill and the women he assaulted and how Rudy is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much worse anyway.

Though Paula and Juanita and Kathleen will side with me on this point.

Not at all! I’ve been consistent in saying Clinton didn’t have the character to be President. Neither does Rudy.

The rapist at least had enough character to not bring bimbos home and to try to hide his bad behavior from his daughter rather that throwing it in her face. I find it strange that you would use Clinton to excuse Giuliani’s behavior.

You were the first to mention Clinton as a comparison. An irrational comparison at best.

The rapist had character. The LOL remark 2007.

He didn’t have much character but, as pointed out above, he had more than Rudy.

Neither one belongs in public office.

But defend him all you want. There aren’t enough “character doesn’t matter” Republicans to beat Hillary in the general election. So if you guys get him nominated, just realize you elected Hillary

Bill was being serviced in the White House by Monica on the first floor while his wife and child resided upstairs.

And it's truly irrational to say a rapist has character in any amount. Rapists have less character than non-rapists if every instance.

These braindead Rootybots are a damn nuisance----they act as if every city government budget provides funds for a married Mayor's porking his mistress.

Let's keep in mind the most relevant details.... as this story unfolds:

(1) It's not the security detail's expenses that are at issue here; it's the EXTRA police expenses that Rooty incurred; expenses he calculatedly hid in obscure agencies.

(2) The NYC mayor gets a security detail 24/7 which is a standard budget item as was his family's security detail. If Rudy had simply stayed home with his wife and kids acting like the paradigm family man he conned the public into believing he was, HE WOULD NEVER HAVE INCURRED EXTRA EXPENSES for gas, hotels & meal per diems, and occasional airline bills. These bills exposed Rooty's extramarital activities and become fodder for the NY press (and the thing that probably sank his bid for US Senator).

(3) Yes, Rooty was married and porking his mistress. Bad enough---but the coverup is what's at issue here. The malfeasance committed intemded meant to coverup the married Mayor was getting it on with his mistress.

(4) Rudy's arrogance led him to feel entitled to subsidize his playmate with government funds.

(5) Rooty felt compelled to bury these expenses in obscure agencies.....that in itself is an admission of guilt.

(6) Rooty assigned his mistress a police car and driver, a police detail to guard her NYC apartment building and her Hampton's condo. Police also walked her dog and drove her friends around......all at taxpayers' expense.

And all of it IN EXCESS of what the married Mayor was already alotted for security for himself, and his family.

Hillary didn’t have to go to court to keep Bill from bringing Monica into the residence. Mrs. Giuliani did have to go to court to keep Rudy from his bimbo into Gracie Mansion.

When a rapist has more respect for his wife and kids than someone else, the someone else has less character that the rapist. By hiding his actions and trying to shield his Family from them, Clinton showed that at least he recognized he was doing wrong. Rudy acted like he was entitled to his misdeeds. You may think it’s OK for a presidential candidate to have a history of treating his family worse than the rapist treated his, but I doubt that enough voters think that way to elect him.

Giuliani’s is not good enough to be called scum. He may meet you’re standards for the kind of character we should demand for a President, but I’m optimistic that most of the country hasn’t fallen to that point yet.

All good points.

You forgot to mention that his actions were against the law and New York State Comptroller, Alan Hevesi, was prosecuted for providing less service to his sick wife.

Rudy should be prosecuted.

I can’t imagine what else there is....but you have to know Hillary has it ready to go. Rudy will be lucky to survive the GOP primaries........let alone against a Dem. If they thought Rudy’s divorce was messy, they ain’t see nothing yet.
