Sorry about that image size folks...I resized it down to 96 dpi and 5 inches across, but...somehow the image is cached or something...apologies to those on dial-up...
I had one of those as well.
We would jump it from a ramp.
We broke a lot of stuff with it!
Where was Shelly Saltman?
a tooth brush... I wonder if Evel had any teeth left???
Nice work!!!!
I might still have mine (Evil Knievel motorcycle). I also remember at that time, there was a Hanna-Barbara cartoon called “Devlin” about a motorcycle stuntman and his family working for a travelling circus. RIP Evil, for us 1970’s kids, you are one of our idols.
~I was absolutely obssessed with the Snake River jump. I still have the scars on my elbows and knees from setting up ramps and jumping them on my bike. I loved Evel when I was a little kid.~
I think all of us that were teens in the early 70’s kept Evel on a pedestal. I submerged my Honda Trail 90 once in a creek trying to jump it. I have scars on my elbows and knees also as reminders of my escapades. Of course, our engineering of ramps wasn’t that good as I failed to take into account once that weight on a 1x6 resting on a cinder block at one end will automatically raise the opposite end. Caught that back wheel just right on a Honda SL 70. Went over the handlebars and tore the heck out of my right side when I landed.
But those were the days! Thanks for the memories Evel and Rest in eternal peace.
Only he earned the right to say it.
Big Balls RIP
I remember my brother and my cousin doing some crazy jump on that thing
BTW any of you Male Freepers imagine themselves as kid to being Evel Knervl my brother did LOL!
He once came home his knee all bloody because he put wood on ramp and decided that he jump it he crash his Shwienn bike LOL!
Yep, I rode my bike and jumped the irrigation ditch behind my house.
My younger brother missed and face planted into the mud and water.
After he recovered, he tried it again an made it.
Rest in peace Evel; you were the best.
Those situations where you meet a celeb but you're too young to remember are cool, but it sucks to not have the memory. Somewhere there's a picture of Bobby Allison holding me as a toddler, but I certainly don't remember meeting him.
I had him autograph (in paint) the gas tank of my Honda 750 back in 1972. I sold the bike with a new tank installed, I kept the original, and still have it.
Dude, you got a piece of history from a legend. I’d put it in a glass box and wooden base.
Just outside Rome - there’s still some sort of R&D facility there, but when we were there it had interceptors and B-52s. I’m feeling old - Suffolk County AFB, where I was born, is closed, as is Griffiss, as are Howard and Albrook in Panama where I was on active duty. How Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM (my first active duty base) remains open is a complete mystery to me, as it’s the least attractive place on the planet to put a base...
