Duck or duct is an actual etymological debate, believe it or not.

I read somewhere that it was originally Duck tape - popularly name because it was developed to seal leaks on WW2 amphibious vehicles.

Since it was handy after the war when heaters were plumbed into new houses - it was an easy shift from duck to duct.

In either form it was forerunner to today's wildly superior Hundred Mile an Hour Tape, which seems to hold up quite well at 200 plus.[Yes, NASCAR season is over and I WILL be making needless references to it from now until mid February]

I have since been *edumucated* on the duck/duct topic by subsequent FReeper posts and still don’t believe it, lol - but that’s OK.
