Chill, people! Horse fighting, or we military buffs refer to it "Cavalry Charges" have been around for thousands of years. More horses than men died in these battles. 475 horses were killed and 42 wounded out of 673 in the Charge of the Light Brigade.

I've noticed in the movies that the horses are never shot at or "lanced" during a battle. In real life, the horses are the biggest, easiest target. Great way to bring down a fully armored knight.
